Just Wingin' It - S800 Sky Shadow
#1
After long last, I was finally able to get a start on my first wing!  The reason it took so long is that for any of you who've built a wing you know it takes a LOT of wire and I was waiting on this nifty little wiring kit to arrive.
https://www.amazon.ca/CBAZYTM-Stranded-G...y+26+guage

I spent the better part of yesterday just soldering and laying out wiring.  I'm attaching all components to the flight controller using servo plugs instead of hard wiring to the board, so this involved soldering the extension wires at the component end, then soldering the plugs onto the other end.  so far so good though, here's a parts list:

Reptile S800 Sky Shadow
Emax Lite-Spec 2206 2300kv motor
Emax Bullet Pro 35A ESC
Emax 9G metal gear servos
Matek F405-Wing flight controller
FRSky R9MM receiver
RDQ Mach 3 vtx
HQ 6X4.5 E Prop

It's been a bit of a learning curve with a couple of oopsies, the biggest being hot gluing the servos into place and then realizing I hadn't screwed the horns on. doh

Here's a couple pics of the routing of the wires on the bottom side, top side's still just a jungle of wires.......

Dude, where's my quad?

I always thought I wouldn't be into the wing thing because I'm more of a balls-to-the-wall kind of guy. But, seeing all the builds you guys, and at least one gal, put together really get me thinking. Sweet build man.

Deal
Here's the Deal

10" 6S FR10-G Long Range, 5" 6S Rooster, 5" 6S Badger, 5" 6S QAV-S, 5" 4S Badger, 5" 4S Phreakstyle Slam, 5" 6S Yema, 5" 4S Stark, 3" 4S Gecko, and a 3S 2.5" Tadpole, all of which are Crossfire.  Tinyhawk, Tinyhawk S, and a DJI Spark.  And projects on the bench....

More balls to the wall with a wing than you can ever do with a quad.....if by balls to the wall you mean overall speed....and distance....

YAY! Another S800 pilot Big Grin

But.. do not repeat my mistake - do not hot glue the wires in the channels, they will rip inside the insulation as the wing flexes and you won't even notice it and blame anything else when something goes wrong. Just use tape to cover them.
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

Ah OK, another lesson learned!  I've got the wires held in place with a few spots of hot glue, I'll see if I can get them separated before I cover them
Dude, where's my quad?

And if you put clear tape over the channels, it is like having a flying ant colony...'cept with wires instead of ants...never mind.
