Jumping front motors
#1
When I throttle up, my front motors jump. (See videos)

The only thing different in the settings is that those two motors are labeled as bi-directional soft rev. (See Pic)

I was just wondering if this was normal. the flight characteristics seems to be normal but I’m new so I’m a bit unsure. I started looking into this because when I tried to roll, my quad would go into a spinning crash. I didn't know if it was my flight skills or if it was a motor issue.

Thanks in advance.

For normal quads we just set it to normal or reverse.

That option is for inverted flying or upside down flying.

Hey, Thanks for this. I just watched it.

Quick question Should I go into BLheli and switch the Bi-Direction soft rev to normal or reverse? Bardewell mentions what NOT to do but he doesn't say what the setting should actually be. I'm not sure about that setting.

There are 2 ESCs now set to Bidirectional Sof Rev. Those are the ones giving me the issue.

UPDATE - I also just noticed the my motors were actually changing directions. This isn't happening in flight. I don't see how it could be happening in flight. It's happening on the workbench though.

bidirectional motordirection is for flying 3d, accelerate in both directions. you would need to set all esc to biderictional to be able to fly 3d, i believe therefor it doesnt act 3d aslong as you dont enable all 4esc to bidirectional.
as you you wont fly 3d, it requires special props.... centered throttle gimbal on the radio... take care, accrelate in both directions can be dangerous if you arent prepared for it.
yes you should choose between normal and reverse and skip bidirectional motordirection.

that seems to have fixed it on the workbench. Thanks so much. I'm not even sure how that setting changed to Bi-directional but I'm sure I did it at some point over the years and don't remember. Thanks.

I bet it was flipping on the workbench because there was no torque from the propellers so the sec thought it was upside down.

Also, this may explain why my flips and rolls were not working.
