Japalura 4 inch maiden day..
#1
Heya Folks,
just got back from a foundation meeting in Venice, and those were the stickiest, hottest, most uncomfortable days of my life.. ROFL
I was soo happy getting back to my (..still warm, but there's a shower) appartment after spending the last night at the airport due to reservation/transportation problems. I'm reunited with my multirotor babies! Big Grin

The Japalura is a blast. I just got a couple of Lipos on maiden day with it, but it immediately felt very controllable and comfy. I'm running Tmotor F30's/2800KV with 4045BN props (triblade! - they're the only ones I got..), and this setup tends to be heavy on the Lipo. Plenty of power, though.. Tongue
I can't really say which will be the final setup, just know that the 1000mAh Lipos I used for the first flights were a bit heavy. Ideal for the Amp draw, though..
I'll go for lighter props, as soon as they arrive, and some lighter Lipos, too! Looking forward to an ordered Runcam split as well, so hopefully I'll soon provide better footage..

Take it easy, enjoy the summer and keep your birds in the air!
THIS-HOBBY-IS-AWE-SOME!! Cool Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

..of course, I had to give bee-queen Helix 6 inch her stroll! - I'm running her on 6040 Gemfan BN Nylon props, which are "not so bullnose", and I still have to get a little used to them. The new spot forces me to "run in circles", but is great for teaching the noob I am to plan my pathways a little smoother. I'm still getting used to pinching, too! I must say that it gives me a "safer" feeling, though. I sometimes "forget" about it and spontaneously drop back into thumbing, but I'm convinced it's worth it. Gives you way better control of the axes you're using..
The low sunlight.., well, we all know what that means. Looks kinda neat, but is really a challenge, and no, I really didn't see that tree  Wink

a day on the sim, and off we go!
Really feels weird at the beginning (..especially when missing the disarm-switch Cry ), but sure is worth investing some patience!

Is the last one in slowmo or is that just my browser doing funny things to the video? It seems like it's doing slow and jerky.

Either way, I love the way your 6" flies. I don't think I'd be able to get comfortable with those flight characteristics but it's fun to watch you fly it! There is just something smooth and deliberate about it. Smile

The 4" is looking good too!

Great stuff buddy, keep up the good work!

Hey Mr. Vegas,
thank you for the motivation!! Heart Big Grin
The last vid indeed got churned up somehow during the upload - I'll replace it asap..
Still have to get a decent cutting program anyway - what do you use?
I was talking to a local shop owner (..who, too bad, is closing down and switching business) lately, who had been developing frames & gimbals for pro video recording and who used to be a professional heli pilot. (rc and the real deal).
He was actually one of the guys who got T-motors to produce their "unreasonable" and micro-market F80 motors, for which I could smooch him Big Grin
He said that racers wouldn't be able to handle my quads, at least at first, because of the throttle curve and the weight. They're heavy and have insane punch, but real monsters on the lipo and prolonged full throttle would cause any fc to faint quickly. I compare it to motorcycle engines: When I used to race, I always favored the mighty V2's over the insanely (..cool as well, don't get me wrong!) high-spinning inline and V4's. All this 6 inch stuff is pretty much that direction, I guess. Low-RPM-torque and stuff..
I'm really just getting started, and there is still tons of stuff I have to figure out. Meanwhile, the hobby is developing at crazy speed, so as soon as one thinks to have figured out something, the next technical question arises. *like burning my fingers on 32bit-non-licensed-ESCs Confused
I learned a great deal from it, however. Every time I fall on my nose, I get up with a clearer view of things. And I just love everything about fpvquads. It's like being a little boy again, yesterday I decorated my new battery case with stickers and had to giggle innerly.. Wink
My goal is virtuous proximity flying in the mountains, and around buildings and construction sites. The latter is kinda hard to access where I live, but I'm not giving up easily Cool
I just wonder whether this is as addictive to others as I experience it, but I guess yes..: One build hardly finished, I'm dreaming about the next one, with different specs, integrating what I have learned from the last. There's so much fun stuff to come, and when observing the developments of the last few months, we must be in for some awesome innovations. Like the runcam split, which I just had to preorder. Would save me some strategic weight on my big bird builds..
Thanks for your support, happy & safe flying, inspirational building and catch you soon on the forum!

I am using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum (Not because of my screen name, but because I've been a Sony fan for years... although it's owned by Magix now).

when watching your videos you can really see the weight and power. It's like the sports car vs the muscle car... they're both great but feel different in the end.

As for addiction, I am definitely addicted. The truth is I just bought a car, and I've put a few grand into my addiction already... and I really don't need a second build... but I am building a second build (5th quad) because I want to... because I cant help it! I actually had to reeeeeally resist the temptation to build another right away after the first. It's a lot of fun though for sure and very addicting.

Good luck with the split, it'll be cool to see how it does on there.
