I thought it would be nice to have a thread where any forum members who are participating in IGOW4 could post their weekly video submissions. I'll start it off with my IGOW4 preseason week #1 submission (we’re not gonna talk about how many batteries I burned through to make this submission. It’s real damn hard to hover in a cube in acro mode): As a side note, for anyone who is as cheap as I am- I considered making a 28" cube out of scrap wood, but, I'm guessing that as the weeks progress, we're going to have to make multiple other obstacles. I don't want to spend time cutting up wood and screwing things together when I could be flying, so I decided to go the PVC route. But... I'm cheap. I had a $25 Home Depot gift card (for those folks outside of the US, it's a chain hardware store). Four 10 foot lengths of pvc were only about $4 each. Cool. The damn connectors can get expensive. A single PVC Side Outlet 90-degree socket is $5. A 4-way T is priced the same. I'm not about to spend $20 on the connectors alone. So, I bought T sockets that look like this, they're about $1 each, and pvc caps that are about 50 cents each: And drilled out holes to fit m3 bolts to attach the caps to them: Came out to: $1.50 per connector (x4): $6 $4 per 10 foot length of pvc (x4): $16 $24 total, and after making this cube, I've still got 20' of pvc pipe for any other obstacle I might need to make. Dangerous operations. Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about. I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose. I'm going to make mine tomorrow. I'm considering making it a double cube, ie, 2 cubes high. I will probably me making mine out of 21mm poly pipe (outflow pipe) sourced from Wickes (a similar shop to Home Depot, but in the UK). Total cost should be about £12 for one similar to yours, Lemony (8 pieces of pipe and some connectors). Right now I don't even have a quad that will work for this challenge. The Meteor85 is way too powerful (and I did try earlier). It's hard to control in Angle, let alone Air. So the job for today is to put the Meteor65 stuff on to a Meteor75 frame that i have, solder the vtx/cam to it and see if it works. Then i might have something for IGOW. Plus I miss having my Meteor75. As much as I bitched and moaned about 1S, for flying in the back garden, it's 1S all the way. I seriously considered putting that thing in angle mode for the hovering bit. I put the prop guards back on my BuzzBee98 build for future challenges, and I honestly think it would have been easier to do all of that with it on 2s. I find that as I get larger, they’re more stable and less sensitive/squirrelly. Can that meteor85 run on 1s to tone it down a bit? I might need to bring my rates down on this little 65mm, but that means compiling Silverware again and resoldering on a connector to attach it to an stlink. Maybe I can do it through stick commands, but with no osd I’m kinda working blind. Dangerous operations. Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about. But I don't have any Lipos with XT30 connectors and no adapters. Plus I have a spare 5A AIO FC, a new Ant Lite camera and OVX303, plus all the stuff from the Meteor65. the only decision is whether to stick to 65mm or go to 75mm. I haven't decided yet, but I might build it as a 65mm, just to do one. Got it on amazon so my kids can make blanket forts but work well for making gates and other shapes to fly around. Gonna practice a bit more then will share a video. It’s a long way away from the forts I used to make out of chairs, broom, mop, cushions, rope, and sheets/blankets. Dangerous operations. Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about. The way I look at it, 86 rods in the kit can make around 12 freestanding square gates. Even more if you hang them or stack them. I'm not 100% sure that whatever the hell I was doing were technically split-s'. I did fly standing up while flying for the first time during part c of this weeks challenge- I got tired of having to walk all the way over there after every crash, which was about every 15 seconds.
