I need some advice on TPU.
#1
Team, I have been playing around with softmounting Ideas the last few weeks and Have worked from scratch on a few Ideas, some of which have worked well and others not so much.
I have a few more Ideas I want to attempt this year.

Moving foward I want to Know if there is any noted difference in TPU color that will affect the softness/flexabillity/Give, etc etc.
I understand some products (like urethane aka skateboard wheels etc) can change propertys when a pigment is added, some colors behaving worse than others, is this relivant in 3D printing? or can somthing in the printing process offer a softer end result?

Is there an optimum TPU base Ie "black" or "clear" and is there a native "Raw" pigment so to speak?.

Any genuine help is much appreciated.

There might be some differences in hardness but not much with the stuff I buy at least. Some tpu is very soft though some quite hard. There's a rating for it that's not normally advertised on the roll. DIN or something like that they rate it as. Search the manufacturers Web site it should be there.

Don't know what you are soft mounting but I think TPU is still too stiff to soft mount FC. Unless your design somehow take this into account.

For this "project" its a Go-Pro session 5 mounted on a Iflght XL5 frame,
Im using fast passes/windy days and/or reelsteadyGo to gauge results (trusting my eyes because logic), the softmounting Ideas are seperate from the tpu mount, some thin carbon plates, some Iso mounts,Foams, some ummagrip, some moongel.....the lists go on...
I "think" I want to try a soft compound or somthing far from Plasticy so to speak

I dont want to buy a reelsteady mount for anything other than comparison.

Hi, in my opinion the most relevant factor here is filling % in your slicer. TPU can be different from one manufacturer to other or different production batches but you can make it more flexible or stiffer by increasing / decreasing infill percentage

Awesome thats some good advice, I honestly dont have a printer (yet), But want to pick up a few more ready made ones for now. Its good to know I can get some Mechcanical Ajustment at the print phase.

ninjaflex is rather hard to print though, it's extremely flexible. It's a lot easier to to print on a direct drive extruder then on a bowden. Both are doable but require a lot of tweaking in my personal experience. Sainsmart TPU is very easy to print especially compared to ninjaflex and is still rather flexible. With the right amount of infill I believe you could print some fc soft mounting spacers that work just fine. I've also used ninjatek Cheetah which is closer to sainsmart's flexibility and print really easy as well. Ninjatek Cheetah is my personal favorite TPU at the moment.

I personally have not noticed a difference in hardness across colors of the same brand. Specifically, I use SainSmart TPU.

As an aside, I've found the TPU's "Shore A Hardness" rating a really good indicator of how hard one brand of TPU might be versus another brand ...

Just curious, do you print with 1.75mm or 3.0mm?

1.75. Why do you ask?

I'm trying to decide which route to go with TPU. I can easily convert my extruder and hotend to 3.0 which I thought might be more reliable. (It's bowden - yes, I know...)
