I do this all the time. Charge 6 packs in one go. Awesome post

one thing though, it's very important to get a decent para board that comes with fuses or some sort of protective circuitry Smile we don't want to see someone's house get burned down Smile

Actually now that you brought that up. I just made my own wiring harness, I'm not exactly sure where to put fuses. Do you put 1 for each battery?

you can just use one on the main positive wire Smile
depends on your charging current, if your max charging current is 6A, then you probably can use a fuse rated at 6A*125% = 7.5A or the next fuse up Smile
also make sure voltage rating is correct too.

*the 125% assumption is from here.

Yeah in that case that's already what I have set up

Definitely need to get this set up. Spending hours charging LiPos is getting old. I certainly appreciate doing it safely though.

The author of the article linked in the first post (which is excellent and what I learned parallel charging from) argues that fuses aren't necessary.

The idea is that if you are parallel charging properly there is no way you will need fuses. Put another way, if you're relying on a fuse to protect you, you are setting the bar too low regarding the knowledge you have and the procedure you're sticking to.

Parallel charging is really safe and easy if you:

1. Tape over balance connectors on the paraboard that you don't use (e.g. 5s and 6s ones)
2. Use identical packs only
3. Are careful to fly all your packs to the same ending voltage
4. Double-check each pack's voltage immediately before you put it on the paraboard

If you have packs of different voltages, you need to really understand how the electrons are flowing when you plug them together, and it's safer just to pre-charge/store the odd one out on its own using the charger until it's the same as the others.

Why #1? Well, those pins are just out there in the open, doing nothing useful other than waiting for any piece of metal to land on them and short them out. Get out your masking tape and cover them. You can always take the tape off next time you build a 5s or 6s quad Wink
