Use the code "BESTFPVSHOP" for a 5% discount.

Just taken delivery of this. But it is the SE version, with no rotary dial on the back, just a red, a green led and a mini usb socket.
I can't find any instructions on how to use it, although I can change my Taranis to show the External module to be multi, and then scroll through the options, FlySky etc.
not sure which one to use for the EMAX Tinyhawk 2

Also, there is a buzz when I turn on the external module, is this normal?

PLEASE HELP, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO, AND I DON'T WANT TO FRY MY TX !

You have the newest version of the module which is why you have no rotary switch on the back. I believe the new module has dropped the ability to communicate with the transmitter in PPM mode which is the only reason the dial was needed. The SE module communicates in serial mode which is all done via software based on what protocol you select on the screen of the Taranis.

When setting up a model for the TinyHawk S, switch off the internal module and set the external module to use MULTI with FRSKYX CH_16 as the protocol.

You can find a manual for the older module at the link below. All the protocol selections should be the same. Just ignore anything in the manual that is to do with PPM and the manual rotary switch.

There are so many options on that multimodal I didn't know where to look.
I will attempt the Robocat next.

I am at a loss as to where I can post a help request so maybe some kind person can help. I have a new X9D Plus SE - 2019 with openTX version 2.3.0, I want to update to 2.3.2 but it has me stumped. I can't use the bootloader mode as the 3 finger salute as described in "UPDATING OPENTX 2.3.X NIGHTLY ON TARANIS X9D+ 2019" no longer works due to the new on/off switch. Further openTX Companion 2.3.2 reports an error, so for me end of story.

I don’t quite understand why your three finger salute doesn’t work. Although sometimes when I try to do it it doesn’t work but that’s probably due to my clumsy thumbs. If you move the two trim tabs inwards and literally just touch the on off switch it should work. A couple of times I have moved my thumbs and held the button for too long then it doesn’t work.

Scubadrone thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. Unfortunately it has not solved my problem as the TX is brand new i.e. it was released at the end of September this year and has a new switch for turning it on. One needs to hold the switch down for 4 seconds before the TX switches on, and it is then in transmit mode with the last model selected as the active model. Note if one lets go of the on/off before the cycle is completed nothing happens. A long press of the menu button and the a short press of the page button one gets the SD card, toggle down to the FIRMWARE folder and one is now in the position to update the bootloader firmware NOT the operating system firmware. When I attempt to update the firmware using OpenTX Companion I get a useless error message finishing in "Unknown reason". All I can assume is that people are using the earlier model of the X9D Plus SE, my friend has one and that works as you describe, as it has the old version of the on/off switch. One day I may be smart enough to include a photo/screenshot in a post.
I am still open for help and advice.

I have the same model, from December this year. You definitely need to try it as mentioned in the previous post. Push the two sub trim tabs towards each other and briefly press, don’t hold, the power switch. Works for me.

Scubadrone thanks again for the reply. I have tried about a zillion ways from the briefest push where the screen turned for a milli second or three to the full on without getting to the desired option of a FIRMWARE update though I can update the bootloader form this option. To be clear I have tried all sorts of time on the switch. This is a known problem if you look up Github you will note the version 2.3.3 release candidate 1 (will have to check the number) the programmers are working on this very problem but if it is fixed there I think we will still be in a "catch 22" how to upgrade the firmware that has the fix. I have been in the game since the mid '50s and purchased my first Taranis in 2013 which I have updated to 2.3.2. Other than the update issue I find the X9D Plus SE - 2019 a really really good TX and I hope it will be as trouble free as the earlier one are.

Scubadrone, I think I have the answer but it won't help me. I reread the thread and in your post #1 I note that your TX was flashed with Version 2.3.3RC1 and if you look at my previous post to quote I stated "This is a known problem if you look up Github you will note the version 2.3.3 release candidate 1 (will have to check the number) the programmers are working on this very problem but if it is fixed there I think we will still be in a "catch 22" how to upgrade the firmware that has the fix." Thus you can actually do the three finger salute and I can't Shows what a difference two months make between releases, mine late September version 2.3.0 your December version 2.3.3RC1. Mine also had no SD card so I had to cheat a bit to get the version 230021 to 230020 but it is not a real issue as 230023 works after cancelling the error message.
If I ever get it to work I will let you know including a how to as well. I hope you enjoy flying your quad I have 3 all are 500mm size quads, I also have 10 planes.

@Hank Deucker -  I don't see any issues under the OpenTX GitHub area relating to your issue. Do you have a link?

You can flash firmware to a Taranis from OpenTX Companion if you switch it on normally, then connect a USB cable, then select USB (not joystick) as the connection mode. Flashing firmware this way used to just flash the main OpenTX firmware and not a new version of the bootloader itself, but it's possible that both now get flashed when doing it this way. If not, then at least you can still update the main OpenTX firmware and doing that may then allow you into the bootloader where you can re-flash both OpenTX again and the bootloader to get everything up to date. It's worth a try.

Hi Hank. I had that version 2.3.3RC1 on my X9D purely by mistake. I had nightly builds checked on companion without realising it. I have since changed to 2.3.2, and not had a problem.
Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for both replies, it will take me some days to find the Github thing, we are in the midst of a long hot spell it was 43.6 yesterday and that takes the fun out of doing anything. Thank you SnowLeopardFPV, I have tried many times the flash the new firmware using the process you outline without success. It always ends with the same result see attachment.
For the technical minded I use an iMac computer running the latest OS, I use OpenTX Companion vers. 2.3.2, I have the correct radio profile selected for my TX, I have the correct SDCard for 2.3.2, and I have been using openTX for the last 4 to 5 years and am familiar with the GUI. The message I get indicates that Volume/Taranis/FIRMWARE is not available but using the Mount command in Terminal shows that the device is mounted. To say the least I am at a loss.
