Help with FPV
#1
Hey guys!!

I''ve been doing my first flights on my drone and i was just wondering what you guys can tell me to get better range of my fpv equipment. im only getting about 100 feet of range and i ddont think that its normal for the equipment i have. I dont know if i'm doing something wrong or not, its my first build ever so i dont know much. these are the parts i have

Eachine ET600 5.8G 32CH 600mW
1800mAh 14.8V 75C 4S
Fatshark Dominator 5.8GHz Receiver
Fatshark dominator v3
Aomway 5.8GHz FPV 4 Leaf Clover

I powered it with the 12v voltage regulator i had to add to the ZMR250 for a 4s battery. If you guys need any other part of my drone to try to figure this out lmk ill add it.

Thanks a lot i hope i can get a lot of range from it soon so i can start going crazyyy!!!!

Have you tried different channels on your VTx/VRx? If you get an image with multiple Tx channels with the same Rx channel, is one stronger?

yes i tried changing channels but i did not try all. also i forgot to mention that for some reason sometimes the video gets wierd when putting throttle or things like that. im not sure if maybe there is interference or something like that but tomorrow ill try what you said. But in your opinion how much range should i be getting?

A lot of times people get the VTX and antenna connectors wrong, One may be SMA, and the other RPSMA, Check and see if the VTX connector has a pin or a hole, and then check if the antenna has a pin or a hole. One of them needs to have a pin,

So, in a nutshell, If your VTX is SMA, you need SMA antenna, and conversely if the VTX is RPSMA your antenna needs to be RPSMA. You can buy adaptors to convert one to the other if need be.

I don't have a 600mW Tx (only 200mW), and I'm not an expert, but you should get way over what I do and I get between 100-200 METERS easy (unobstructed).  Haven't tried to go much further yet.

Sounds like my first experience with fpv Smile. I got about the same range as you. Problem turned out to be that I had bought a couple different 90° adapters and somewhere along my build I put rp-sma to sma adapter on my vtx with a rp-sma antenna. So basically the center lead was never connected. Yeah, dumb mistake but what's funny is I flew like this for a month all the while grumbling about my horrible range. I could still fly and have a good time, but the first tree between me and the quad chopped my video.

What a good day it was when I noticed my mistake and fixed it Smile.
