Hawkeye Firefly Micro Cam 2
#1
Hawkeye Firefly Micro Cam 2 Only 31 gram 2.5K 1080p 60fps, water resistant

It looks like this camera was officially announced on the Hawkeye website last week (the article is dated 13th February 2019). A direct Google translation from their Chinese web page HERE is below.

It's just over twice the weight of the original Firefly (which was 14g) so I expect that means it will be bigger. Maybe they are going to try and bring a GoPro Session sized camera to the market to try and take some of the competition from RunCam and Foxeer with their recent new offerings. As expected, there is no indication of price yet. I'm sure some of the usual reviewers will get hold of one when the first pre-production ones start becoming available for reviewer testing.

EDIT: Yes, it's bigger than the Firefly 1. See the pictures & videos linked to at the bottom of this post.

There is footage from the camera on Hawkeye's official YouTube Channel HERE.

I think there are some questionable choice of words in a few of the paragraphs but I'm sure (hope) it is probably just something which has just got lost in translation Undecided

Quote:Hawkeye Flying Firefly Small Square Dog II

2.5K 30FPS, 1080p 60FPS, 31g

Hawkeye engineers, beheading the poor, swearing, working every day, burning a year of youth, and finally forced to implant a powerful microprocessor in the space of the projectile. While retaining the superior design of the previous generation, it has improved performance by 400%, achieving HD recording with the highest resolution of 2.5K and the highest frame rate of 1080P 60FPS. Even if the children's shoes are on the speed, they can still record smooth and smooth video.

Only 31 grams:

31 grams of small square dog II, also TM can record 2.5K 30FPS, 1080P 60FPS! Also TM built-in battery! The cliff is a three- in-one, ultra-high-definition video recording, volume and weight are all wall-mounted, built-in battery: sports camera. The following are the dimensions and weight comparisons for common models:

Built-in battery (1 hour):

In the ultimate volume of 31 grams, you also need to include a large-capacity battery that can work continuously for one hour???? This can not help but let the Hawkeye engineers shudder! But in the face of the crisis of being fired, we have no hesitation and realized it! Charging once, how long does it take to fly? Please see: (Every flight time is 3 minutes, you can fly 20 batteries in a row. According to China's per capita GDP in 2018, few people can fly more than 10 batteries in a row. This counts down, it is no problem to fly out for one afternoon.)

Water repellent design

As a qualified model friend, I have psychological preparations: early bombing, late bombing, morning and evening to blow up, and always come back to mix. Puddles, swamps, wet meadows, home-cooked meals. The plane crashed and the incident was small, but the video was gone, and I couldn’t see the complete process of my own fried chicken. Later generations regarded it as long as the hero burst into tears. So having some waterproof performance is necessary. Taking into account the cost and benefits, as well as the wallet of the model friend, Xiaofanggou II chose the anti-splash design. Add a barrier to protect the camera.

Low-latency AV output - FPV camera , HD video dual-use

The old fritters in the model world are deep, the importance of AV output: low latency, high frame rate (60fps)! The delay of the small square dog II is: 40-50ms, 60 frames / sec. Enough for general flight, it can replace the ordinary FPV camera (saving 100 oceans here). With the AV output of the sports camera, you can see what you recorded, while the FPV, HD video, low-key!

Voltmeter: battery voltage detection

The voltmeter is equivalent to the fuel gauge of the aircraft, external voltage detection, real-time detection of the aircraft battery voltage, monitoring of battery loss, allowing you to safely return to the battery before the battery is exhausted.

Model airplane triggers video capture

The two reserved IO ports can be recorded/photographed by external triggers, greatly increasing the scalability on the model and various uses.

Multiple shooting methods

Time-lapse photo, timed self-timer, time-lapse video.

Aerial photography , outdoor, car, life shooting multi-purpose

Although the economy is controllable and adjustable, it is stable, but we still need to return to basic rational consumption, and keep more cash and gold. Based on this concept, Xiaofanggou II is designed to be practical and widely used. In addition to excellent performance of the mission on the model (HD recording + FPV camera), it is also convenient to connect with a variety of sports accessories for the car, as a sports camera, for life shooting.

My firefly 1 just got muted in plain flight.
No sound now  Sad
It's still quite a nice camera. Lightweight and very cheap.

Looks smaller than most of the "cube cams", but bigger than the V1.

Cannot wait to see real world results!

Image quality looks pretty good..at least for the price.

I was also looking into this cam, at that price point (considering added pack and case), I would expect something of close quality of Split/Turtle and in my opinion it only lacks in WDR. On the other hand, image seems to be more natural than that of Split, so it looks like a nice competitor is coming Smile
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

Pre-orders now being taken on Banggood -> $50 (45 Euros or 40 GBP for those in Europe). Once pre-orders hit the 200 threshold, the price then goes up by another 12%, so for anyone interested, now is the time to get a pre-order placed.

https://www.banggood.com/Hawkeye-Firefly...28463.html

Anyone brave enough to try one?

I guess that'll be me then Whistling I needed to order a load of other stuff, and one appears to have fallen into my shopping basket Confused For only 40 GBP I thought it was probably worth taking a punt on. I'm not expecting RunCam 3S or Foxeer Box 2 type quality, but hopefully I won't be too disappointed. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to my Firefly Micro 1 which although not great, seems to have produced some reasonable/usable footage if the lighting conditions have been decent.

I think the raw footage looks pretty good and fairly acceptable for a budget cam.

And the butchered YouTube compressed version...

It looks like the "expected" date got pushed back, last night it was April 8th. I just checked again to report here and now it is May 1st. Sad

I might be wrong but the pre-order phase now looks to be over (I guess they sold the 400 units they had allocated for pre-order). That new date is probably for new orders of the second batch.

The expected shipping date showing against my order is still stating 29th March which was yesterday but the order is still showing as "processing" and I've not had any further email confirmation. I guess I'll find out soon enough if that was a fictitious date or not. It's always a gamble when pre-ordering. I went through the same with my original Mobula7 pre-order last year and in the end I got fed up waiting so just cancelled it and ordered a Trashcan instead.

Did you place a pre-order for the Firefly as well?

Yes I did, on 3-15. And mine still says 3-29 expected ship date as well. But we have all seen BG change that before Rolleyes

I looked earlier this week and they were just over 200 on the pre-orders.

I have found it typical of BangGood to ship things without updating tracking info...so the item can read "Shipped" on their site, but the carriers will list it as only submitted. Just has this happen with some motors I ordered. They were marked as "Processing", but never generated tracking info. They arrived and the order still lists them and "Processing". Will be installing the yet to be shipped propellor spinners this afternoon...

It is actually frustrating to have the mixed info.
