0 Hi, is there a community consensus about connecting the ground to the frame? I know that SMA connector has to be isolated for better video, but what about other electronics? Looks like the only option without overcomplicating the build is to put my Tarsier stack onto metal screws.

78 I see no advantage of grounding the frame and only disadvantages.

14 17-May-2021, 04:29 PM (This post was last modified: 17-May-2021, 04:30 PM by Maiden Flight.) Grounding the frame is leveling up your chances of smoking components. On cars the body is grounded so it's less of a hassle in terms of cables going thru the car to carry the negative. It's way more inexpensive and simple to get the 0v from any point in the car. With quads it makes no sense in my opinion.

0 Thanks, I don't want actually to connect the ground to the frame. I'm saying that the only option for me is to place the Caddx Tarsier stack on metal screws on the frame so that the frame will be grounded. Or should I avoid it by all means?

14 The only problem is that if the frame gets common ground, if anything that has some voltage, touches the frame, will short circuit. It's not easy to acomplish that tough so I would not worry with your specific situation. Grounding from component cases will not be a problem if they remain 0v.

0 Thanks SnowLeopard, that essentially answers my question. Will try to put some kapton tape on the screws for insulation... if this will fit...
