Shielded wires for FPV - grounding
#1
Shielded wires might be very beneficial for many FPV components: camera and VTX, GPS, maybe gyro (I am not sure ).

What I know about shielded wires as a fact:
1. It should be grounded (a shield should be connected to ground). Otherwise no effect or even worse.
2. One point of ground. Otherwise it will cause a ground loop ( I don't exactly understand it, but I know it's very bad)

But my question is where to ground?

One option I've heard is to ground to the battery minus.
Like this:

BTW, wires I want to shield
1. Camera to FC
2. FC to VTX
3. GPS to FC
4. DIATONE MAMBA Interference Shielding FPC Board (not exactly a wire, but should be grounded as well)

Another option is to ground to "signal ground".
Actually I don't know what is  "signal ground".
Maybe it is the same GND pad, it means to solder 2 wires to one pad. Like this?

What is the best option to  connect shielded ground to prevent EMI, RFI and other nasty noises.

What are your thoughts?

im no expert, i hadnt a need for such shielding.
i just like to point on the option of an lcfilter, the common solution from the past for decrease noise

In an aerial craft/vehicle ground is simply the ground on the lipo.

All ground connections are usually connected in continuity.

If using shielded cables or a shield, you simply connect the shield back to the ground on the lipo.

Signal ground is the same as AGND "analog ground" in for example DC DC switching circuits. AGND is a GND trace that all signal sensing is connected to, and PGND (often refered simply as GND) is power ground, the minus connection for the high power components (motors, high powered LEDs in flashlights). They need to be separate loops so that AGND is not affected by power spikes and such, but must be connected at a single point with a small trace on the circuit board. For more on the subject, google "analog ground vs power ground".

I can't say if all FCs have destinctions between AGND and GND/PGND but some do. Have a look at this one, do a page search for AGND: https://fpvfrenzy.com/betaflight-f3-flight-controller/

It's good for power wires, but not for a signal wire.
