So far I am only playing with micro's so I have no input on your motor / ESC & prop choices. Just a word to say that you have found the best forum for multirotor and FPV, and I hope you find the forum as helpful and inspiring as I do! The best combination of motors and propellers is always a difficult question. If you have some idea of what everything will weigh, I'd suggest having a look at possible combinations on eCalc ( https://www.ecalc.ch/xcoptercalc.php). It will give you a good idea of the flight times you can expect and if your motors can handle the power. Those bigger quads are fun to watch. Being a mini-guy (well I personally am not mini by a long shot but my quads are minis) I am in the same bucket as Tom... I don't really know much about bigger builds, but definitely listen to unseen. He knows his stuff and at times when I haven't listened to him in the past I've regretted it! lol. You'll find there are several great minds here for help I hope you enjoy it! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 28 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 7 in 6 posts Likes Given: 17 Joined: Sep 2017 Reputation: 1 (30-Sep-2017, 11:02 AM)Carl.Vegas Wrote: hi Sergey! welcome to IntoFPV! Are there a few guys with a big quad? • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 30-Sep-2017, 12:17 PM (This post was last modified: 30-Sep-2017, 12:17 PM by unseen.) Now I ordered the engines LHI 5010 750KV. I think the props buy 13 "or 14" and ESC Readytosky 40A. • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 Hi Sergey, 750kv sounds a bit high for 14" props and even for 13" depending on the pitch. What kind of weight are you expecting this craft to come in at, including battery? What kind of battery were you thinking of using? Battery: LiPo 4S 6000-8000 mah 40-50C. • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 My worry is your motors. Looking on LHI's Aliexpress page, I don't see any real specifications for the 5010 750kv motors. Searching around a bit more, I find some very similar motors sold under the "Mystery" brand on eBay which list the maximum power rating of these motors as 260W. If that rating also applies to these motors, then even 13x5.5 propellers on 4S run a large risk of overheating them. This is always the risk with buying motors from suppliers who do not publish the specifications for the motor. It also makes it impossible to use tools like eCalc to validate the choices you have made for the power train. Maybe you can ask your supplier for the motor data? They need to tell you: No-load current (expressed as Amperes and including the test voltage) Maximum power limit (in Watts) Winding resistance (in Ohms) We already know kv (750kv) and magnetic poles (14). With that data, it is possible to calculate the flight time, battery load, motor power load and thrust. |
