Anything you can fly with an FrSky, you can fly with Multi-protocol radios. I’d like to get crossfire system and if they made a module for x-lite pro I’d have my order in. The JR module will work but an adapter is needed and I may have to use a neck strap which I’m trying to avoid by getting an x-lite pro. I’m tempted to get a R9M lite pro module and Taranis x-lite pro and be done with choosing radio but I think Crossfire is the way to go. I see lots of complaints with FrSky but very few with crossfire.I also hear they are easier to setup. Maybe TBS will make a lite version that will fit x-lite pro. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 24-May-2020, 06:04 PM (This post was last modified: 24-May-2020, 06:04 PM by the.ronin.) They make a JR module adapter specifically for the Xlite you can find on Amazon, eBay or even DIY 3d printed yourself. But it is a bulky solution for the Xlite. When I flew the Xlite Pro, I hacked the adapter wiring and just 3M-automotive-double-sided taped the Crossfire Lite to the back of the Xlite. It is not a temporary solution but the cleanest. Also, I could no longer use the module bay. I am surprised you seem to be gravitating to the Xlite. If it is the compactness and you like Crossfire, you should be looking at the TBS Tango 2. • Posts: 21,294 Threads: 589 Likes Received: 8,982 in 6,647 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 789 (24-May-2020, 05:54 PM)Rob3ddd Wrote: Maybe TBS will make a lite version that will fit x-lite pro. Unfortunately they won't. They have pretty much made that clear on their live streams. TBS and FrSky hate each other and TBS isn't going to make a Lite module specifically for the X-Lite (which is all it would be useful for) when they want people to buy their Tango 2 transmitter. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 (24-May-2020, 06:04 PM)the.ronin Wrote: They make a JR module adapter specifically for the Xlite you can find on Amazon, eBay or even DIY 3d printed yourself. If the Tango 2 worked with 2.4ghz or non long range fixed wing craft I would probably get one. I thought about installing JR modules on x-lite pro but like you said it makes it bulky and kind of defeats the getting a light compact transmitter. I would rather use crossfire but may settle for R9M. I could keep using my Futaba for 3D and get a tango 2 for drones. I would rather have one radio for everything but... • Posts: 5,897 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,780 in 2,242 posts Likes Given: 7,677 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 24-May-2020, 09:08 PM (This post was last modified: 24-May-2020, 09:09 PM by iFly4rotors.) Or consider the Jumper T18. From what I have read, this radio transmitter has multi-protocol and R9 protocol built into it. So...one transmitter for everything including R9 long range; FrSky, Spectrum, FlySky, etc. etc. including the FrSky R9 gear. All of your old gear (boats, cars, planes, etc.) and your new quads. The best of all worlds. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 (24-May-2020, 09:08 PM)iFly4rotors Wrote: Or consider the Jumper T18. With multiprotocol if you switch from 2.4 to 900mhz won’t that cause problems with antenna and range? • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 I need to keep in mind I don’t plan on flying more than 1.5 kilometers away. Maybe a R9M is all I need. I think the video range will end up limiting my range. More power, more batteries, more weight, more money, more time,etc.... • Posts: 12,099 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 (25-May-2020, 04:34 PM)Rob3ddd Wrote: With multiprotocol if you switch from 2.4 to 900mhz won’t that cause problems with antenna and range? there is probably two separate antennas. but no one really knows the details. • |
