Been fascinated by all this conversation, but have no idea what you guys are talking about most of the time since I don't play. Is there some kind of terminology index somewhere LOL?

Is there some kind of terminology index somewhere LOL? 26-Oct-2019, 04:58 PM LOL not really man. Ark is like one of those humungous MMOs like Eve. For people that play official server, it is VERY heavy on PVP and like in Eve, there are massive, massive, MASSIVE mega tribes that take over entire server clusters. Oh and there's dinosaurs lol. 27-Oct-2019, 10:59 AM (26-Oct-2019, 04:58 PM)the.ronin Wrote: LOL not really man. Ark is like one of those humungous MMOs like Eve. Is it like a traditional MMO though? it reminds me more of something like Arma servers..... Does anyone here play fighting games? Mortal Kombat X or MK11 or Injustice 1 or 2? Tekken 7? 'Ignore' is the route word of Ignorant. Definitely MMO but not sure about traditional. It's like Rust meets Minecraft as far as the grinding and crafting goes but you cant alter the environment. The official PVP servers are notoriously toxic. Love it LOLLL. Neo, dude ... we are still alive. I honestly have no idea how this is possible. Mega tribe MO when taking over a server is to make sure no survivors are left on the map. I'm pretty good at this game but not that good - they must know where at least the mining FOB is and not a hair on it has been touched. I have auto turrets on FOB Delta now and not one single bullet fired. Either this is a noob alpha ... or my face to face with one of their members worked??? LOL WTF bahaha You guys gotta come back on if not just to check out FOB Delta. It is truly a work of hidden base master piece lol. 27-Oct-2019, 09:31 PM (27-Oct-2019, 05:44 PM)the.ronin Wrote: Definitely MMO but not sure about traditional. I stopped playing MMO's that are like open world campaign type MMO's because of the hackers and admins of the servers... so often the admins will cheat if they're down or use their authority to f you over somehow.... IDK if that's what you meant by toxic, but that's how I woulda meant it 'Ignore' is the route word of Ignorant. 27-Oct-2019, 11:49 PM (27-Oct-2019, 09:31 PM)bLoWsMokE Wrote: I stopped playing MMO's that are like open world campaign type MMO's because of the hackers and admins of the servers... so often the admins will cheat if they're down or use their authority to f you over somehow.... IDK if that's what you meant by toxic, but that's how I woulda meant it Its not toxic like that cause official servers are hosted by ARK themselves so there is no admin. With ARK the biggest problem is large groups that you cannot afford to fight against. 28-Oct-2019, 04:36 AM Yea pretty much that lol ^^ But you get lone wolf types like us who are convinced they can survive lol. And toxic as in KOS (kill on site) mentality and general griefing (as in destroying a noob's house just cos you can). Servers are maps with max 70 players. There's like a handful of different maps all DLCs. The rub is you can transfer yourself, your weapons, your dinos, pretty much anything between these servers. Add to that the persistence nature of the game - when you logoff, your character in the game just passes out and can still be killed or captured and everything you own destroyed. I can't quite articulate that feeling when you log on one random day and find hundreds and hundreds of hours of work completely destroyed by some raiders that transferred into your server that you never met and will likely never meet again. LOL 29-Oct-2019, 12:17 AM Ok yea we got wiped. Most stupid game ever I swear! 29-Oct-2019, 01:19 AM 29-Oct-2019, 04:08 AM Yea ... but if you find a good OC server I'll join you guys lol 01-Nov-2019, 02:16 PM (28-Oct-2019, 04:36 AM)the.ronin Wrote: Yea pretty much that lol ^^ Well yeah see I guess it's trade off.... with servers that have admins, they disallow kill on sight and even ban people for it.... but in those game ran servers anything goees.... But in the game ran servers no hackers, but in the admin ran servers you get hackers... So basically it's.. do you wanna get killed randomly for no reason every time you spawn by assholes? Or do you wanna get hacked by noobs? I chose not the ladder, but the fire mans pole... I just don't play xD I used to play Arma a lot..... I played DayZ before it was even a standalone, I stopped playing DayZ when it transitioned from just an arma 2 mod to a standalone paaid for game. 'Ignore' is the route word of Ignorant. 01-Nov-2019, 04:21 PM This was 20 years ago but I was pretty heavy into CounterStrike, from before version 1 through Source. Later Ghost Recon to a much lesser degree. Was part of the core of Network42 and what became TacticalGamer.com. Played with cyber athletes and the biggest nics in the game at the time. Would love to get a gaming desktop again but it would only be a disappointment after being part of something like that. Some of the best hours of my life. Whoa you played with the TacticalGamer guys? I played with them once on Ghost Recon PC on one of their modded maps and WOW. I've never seen such coordination and tactics!! Another reason you might not want to get a gaming desktop going again is games like the original GR on PC just do not exist anymore. There are still great games but the majority are really "console oriented" (read: dumbed down). Many tried to go down the pay-to-play road but thankfully there are still enough shrewd gamers out there and pounced on them pretty hard. We should get everyone on this thread on a DayZ server and just have some fun LOLLLL. 01-Nov-2019, 05:59 PM (01-Nov-2019, 05:07 PM)the.ronin Wrote: Whoa you played with the TacticalGamer guys? Network42 was about 20 or 30 of us and our method of CS play was controversial believe it or not, pissed people off to the pont of hitting the server trying to wreck the system. It became popular enough over a year or two that Paul decided to get serious and create more than a hobby out of it, TG was born. It did, however, essentially kill CSS compared to what we had on N42. The pay-to-play thing is BS. It all looks like cartoon games on crack these days too. They call them the good 'ol days because they really were... 10-Feb-2020, 11:10 PM So I want to bring this back! I've been playing DayZ almost daily lately, it's super fun and we have a group of about 6 guys on a server.... and we are DIRTY rich. We are nearing completion of our base that is an entire school, we turned the school gym (indoor basketball court) into a 2 story house with 8 rooms and 5 airlocks to get in so that its virtually inpenetrable. We have heeeaaaps of rare guns to go around too... Let me know if you wanna join |
