Freestyle Frame

Any thoughts on an X vs Stretched X frame for freestyle? Which do you think is better?

Pure X is always going to feel better than a stretched X, but the pure X frames are pigs to build because there is so little space for the electronics.

Thankfully, things like the Betaflight F3 flight controller and 4-in-1 ESCs make building a pure X much easier than it was just a year ago.

Having front and rear motors a bit further apart is not such a bad thing imho - it makes up a bit for the length-wise weight distribution, and air-flow might be a tad better. Though i would focus on wether the props get into the view of the HD cam then.

why?

have you flown both?

i 'm not being argumentative, just interested in other perspectives than mine (i'm a big stretched, and even asymmetric frames fan)

I have a stretched X Talon and a wide X Martian 3, here are some dvr screen grabs with the same camera and lens to give you an idea of the visual difference with the props.

I have both pure and stretched X craft in my fleet and I've always felt that handling was sharper and more predictable on the pure X craft.

This is absolutely nothing scientific, it's just my personal experience of how they feel in flight.

I use a stretched X frame, and I know many other very good pilots who use stretched X frames. Also, they are generally cheaper.
