4" Freestyle Build
#1
So i want to build a 6S quad for no good reason besides building a 6S capable quad.  I have some parts for it already.  So far this is what I have.

F2 Mito GS 4" frame
4x Emax RS1408 2300kv motors
HM ELRS EP2
Foxeer Nano 350mW VTX
RushFPV Cherry 2
Caddx Ant Nano (but will probably need a bigger camera)
HQ T4x2x3 props (I think, but need to confirm as I bought them months back, but they are t-mount props)

And I have a couple of CNHL 6S 850 Lipos to power/test it.

What i need is a 30x30 stack that doesn't cost a massive amount.  I'm currently looking at the Speedybee V4, but have no preference since i've never built anything this powerful before.  Any recommendations.  Big pads would be nice as well, so I can solder to them a bit easier.

As long as SpeedyBee have definitely fixed the mess they created with V3 of that same FC then I think the V4 stack is a decent price for what you get. From what I've read, all of the design  flaws that were in the V3 appear to have been resolved in the newer version although it hasn't been in the public domain for long so any issues might not have surfaced quite yet. It's probably worth a punt though.

sounds nice, 2300kv sounds not low, it might give very nice flighttimes on an 850mah6s.
850mah is a lot energy, for performance, a sub600mah 6s might match better.

The Ysido is a noname, cheap stack with big(ish) pads:

YSIDO NEW F4 V3S PLUS Flight Control FC Support BetaFlight/INAV BLS-45A/60A 4in1 ESC Stack For RC FPV Drone Plane Quadcopter - AliExpress

$70AUD for the full stack (F4 + 45A/6S esc), so what's that? like 38 quid?  Big Grin

Yeah it's cheap but the reviews are predominately good.   I think Ysido are a cheap oem reseller, like jhemcu and neutron RC rebrands.

I got a deal from CNHL via email and just dropped 3 packs for I think 50% off, I have no need for any more. This is one of those folly level endeavours. I have no need for a 6S drone. I enjoy flying 2-3S. Tongue But I need to get it out of my system. Plus I had all the parts in my parts box, minus the stack. Smile I will fly it for a month or two and then it will go on my wall. Mostly this is me itching to try 1408 and see if they are any good. But the reality is I have no clue what I am doing, but will learn.

TBH, I got some random deal on it. Picked the stack up for £30 (inc VAT). Thanks for that link. Wink

I have 1408s on my 4s 4” and love them,.. some say the taller motors loose proficiency and get hot. I have not experienced that yet.. I am building a rig with Xnova 1804s (3500kv).. have heard nothing but great things about these motors (durability and performance)..
I am REAL curious to see what’s what

1804 is about 5/6 of a 1408 about motorvolume.

i believe the stator hight does give the crazy acceleration and motor response on up to 4inch rotors with 1408. 1804 might be a buz less responsive, more gently, might bi very powerfull anyway :-)

Ha! Many moons ago I used to fly the space cowboy xlr-4 stretch x racer running BH1407 whistling motors on bi-blades... scooted right along. Could get ok battery life if you kept your foot out of it but it was just tooooo much fun for puttering around so battery life was not ok most of the time... but fun. Smile
