Airsports Quadro Hi4 Airsports Quadro is a Quadcopter Simulation in development that I am working on. The simulation uses Nvidia PhysX and the entire flight mechanics are based on forces, torques etc., as opposed to scripted simulators. Also all environment collision is handled by PhysX. The development environment is Unreal Engine 4. The demo can be downloaded for free and without registration. Update v2.4 is out. See Post 12 for details Website with download link and simulation description https://www.bluebudgiestudios.com/airsports-quadro/ • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 21-Feb-2017, 03:57 PM (This post was last modified: 21-Feb-2017, 04:00 PM by fftunes.) Very interesting - love the unreal engine since ut2004 where i've been doing some custom stuff myself. - Any hints about pc requirements?
- Is the demo standalone or do i need a UE4 game installed?
- As i for sure don't have a pc to run this... can you cook a version for PS4?

It is standalone. PC: Win 7,8,10 64bit, any medium-ish gaming pc. Gamepad works best. Hardware scaling options (shadows, grass draw distance, resolution, Vsync) are included to match with your rig. No PS4 package unfortunately possible. • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 (21-Feb-2017, 08:09 PM)BlueBudgieStudios Wrote: No PS4 package unfortunately possible. Ahw... too bad, that would have been cool. I think it was possible in UE3. Well, as a tip so far i'd recommend making a video with actual first-person view action (i mean racing-style, not the dji filming kind of view, which looks well done btw), that might get some attention, as lots of people are looking for a free quad-racing sim. Don't get me wrong, but a 3rd-person view is probably not very useful other than for testing purposes and showing off crashing physics. • Posts: 172 Threads: 21 Likes Received: 60 in 32 posts Likes Given: 56 Joined: Jun 2016 Reputation: 3 Will you be making a version for Mac? They would be better displayed in 3rd person mode. Although 1st would just be a matter of changing the camera position, like it is now done for the filming. I have to look into Mac Packaging. I believe for UE4 you have to be on Mac for this and I am on Windows. • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 23-Feb-2017, 04:41 PM (This post was last modified: 23-Feb-2017, 04:42 PM by fftunes.) But then it would also make sense to have the option of a fixed point of view for realistic line-of-sight flying. Tbh i would find this quite awesome - a "real" 3d landscape to fly in, instead of flat textures like in any other LOS rc sim to date... UE would also make it easier for users to create their own maps. • Posts: 10 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 3 in 3 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 1 23-Feb-2017, 06:55 PM (This post was last modified: 23-Feb-2017, 06:56 PM by BlueBudgieStudios.) Today I did the rough framework for a FPV race cam (tilts/rolls like Quad does, no gimbal like the filming cam) and it just works straight away. Feels good to fly. So that's easy. But at the core it really comes down to getting the flight model right. If I get this done, then the copter can be tuned to racing, 3D stunt, consumer drone,... with all the parameters that I provide. Switching to any cam like race cam, 3rd person etc. is peanuts after that . fixed POV is included (static camera, as opposed to dynamic camera) Posts: 10 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 3 in 3 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 1 11-Mar-2017, 03:43 PM (This post was last modified: 06-May-2017, 09:44 AM by BlueBudgieStudios.) • Posts: 10 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 3 in 3 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 1 06-May-2017, 09:46 AM (This post was last modified: 06-May-2017, 09:55 AM by BlueBudgieStudios.) Hi! Time for a new update. Focus was put on user friendly menus, addition of a new vehicle class (air planes) and rewriting the project for multiple vehicles and locations. A website is also available now. Website with download link and simulation description https://www.bluebudgiestudios.com/airsports-quadro/ v2.0 MAIN UPDATES: + Second flight vehicle added: Airplane + Testflight level added + More user friendly Menu System + Race classes set up + Game Speed Option Next Update: + plane glider (aerodynamics already there: glide ratio, LD number,...) + thermal system for gliding: Dynamic thermal lift system depending on location, height and ground material, Hill Lift depending on Wind direction an speed, variometer + tune project to allow really large levels Posts: 164 Threads: 36 Likes Received: 83 in 46 posts Likes Given: 124 Joined: May 2017 Reputation: 4 Looks great. Version 2.4. NEW: Flight Simulation RCs are fully integrated now and can easily be set up. Use the 'AirsportsQuadroRCDetector' that comes with the download and the new Controls Mapping Menu in the simulation. In tests it was faster than 10 secs! Also see video if something is not understood. NEW: Gliders and a new thermalling system are done! Hill winds, i.e. wind Lee/Luv on mountain slopes, are also in! See Video. New: Large Help Section covering all aspects of the simulation. Improvement Quad: Optional Tilt Lock gives better stability. And lots of small things in the menus to be more user friendly. Download version 2.4 here: https://www.bluebudgiestudios.com/airsports-quadro/ @ryyyaan: You should be able to set up everything that gets detected by the USB ports.
