time to up that roll rate, I think you could benefit from that. also just reduce center sensitivity and up the expo.

I use 0.7 expo on all axis, with center sensitivity of 10. Real old bugger rates. works a treat and gives me more "time" in moves.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve been playing with my rates on my whoops, but I’ve been hesitant to change them on my larger birds for some reason. I’ll try upping my rates and using your expo and center sensitivity rates Monday evening.

I've started playing around with rates on this bird. Apparently I was at defaults.
Changing rates on this 4" seems to change things significantly more than it does on my little whoops.
I'm not at your rates yet, ph2t. I'm experimenting, and working my way there, sort of. I went the opposite direction of you on center sensitivity.

Video below is 3s, 900/900/1000, 0.10 expo on yaw/roll/pitch, no expo on throttle, center sensitivity 100.
Also, cam angle got kicked up about 10 degrees. It's a whole different beast.

Man, the built-in dvr in fatsharks really is shit.

I can see the difference already man. Looking good. Especially when you take that left turn around the tree/bush next to your house/carport area - the turn looks tighter.

I think I can make a proper split-s happen. I’ve practiced it enough for igow, and I’m finally getting comfortable enough to make use of hang time, rather than feeling like I need to get back to right side up as soon as possible.

I made this bugger digital a while ago.

Tonight I took off and noticed that my bitrate was dropping and getting low when it shouldn’t.

I did about a 40 second flight before I came in to land to figure out what was wrong.

The good news is that liquid electrical tape held the u.fl connector in place. The bad news is that the damn antenna came out of the u.fl connector:



Crap. I really hope I didn’t kill the rf amplifier on this 1s Caddx Walksnail vtx. The rf amp/front end module is a thing that I haven’t been able to identify- I mean, I know which chip it is, but I can’t identify *what* chip it is. That means I can’t order a replacement. I’ve reached out to Caddx and they won’t tell me what it is. It shouldn’t be a secret or anything, I’m not asking them for their code, but, whatever.

Okay. I put a shorter antenna on this build. It’s now pretty well protected by the shark fin do-hickey on my canopy, and it shouldn’t be able to be pulled off of the board again.



This shorter antenna will mean I have less range, but, I don’t fly far away so all should be well, cross your fingers folks, the amount of time it took me to type up this post should have given the liquid electrical tape enough time to dry.

If I’ve got drastically dropping bitrate anywhere on my property, I done did kill the rf amp chip. If not, we’re good.

Edit- we’re all good, everything is gravy.

Just like the DJI air units and Vistas, I believe the Walksnail VTX's also have onboard circuitry to protect them against running with no antenna connected. Caddx probably learnt that design feature from DJI. It's a shame that analog VTX's don't have that same type of protection.

I think you might be right, because I was running full blast for those 40 seconds and that would have been enough to melt down an analog vtx. I’ve got this paranoia about running without a vtx antenna- I’ve killed countless analog vtx’s that way (I mean, not from running them with no antenna intentionally- but from running them with a damaged antenna, internally disconnected antenna, etc.)

I still want to know what rf amplifier/front end module these things use though.
