Foxeer wildfire issues
#1
Hi I recently got a digidapter and a foxeer wildfire module for my dji fpv v2 goggles. Basically when I turn the unit on the foxeer boots fine and runs for maybe ten seconds but then keeps powering on and off quickly. The place I got it from (newbeedrone) claimed it’s a faulty digidapter and that BDI will mail me a new one at no cost. Is this a known issue with BDI digidapters? Also another quick question but is it normal for the foxeer to make a noticeable whine? I’m new to analog and don’t know if this is normal. Thanks in advance for any help!

Edit: I can also post a video of the whine if it helps any.

I have a Wildfire for my BDI digidapter(v1 goggles) and it doesn't do that, so maybe there is a problem with it. Is the Wildfire fully seated into the digidapter? I think I remember it being a really tight fit and thinking "I'll never get that back out again" once it snapped into place.

The whine is probably the little fan. I think you can turn it off in the menu, but not 100% sure as I have only used it a handful of times.

So it is fully seated and I did manage to turn off the fan before it started turning on and off and it still makes a whine. The whine could be from my “faulty” digidapter. Still don’t know if it’s faulty or if the wildfire is the culprit but I’ll know tomorrow as my replacement will be in then. Newbeedrone claims it’s the digidapter and that it’s rare for an analog module to be bad. Is it really rare for analog fpv modules to be bad?

There are bad analog modules. I guess the only way for you to be certain is test them on an analog set of goggles.

It might be a noisy voltage regulator. Does the BDI Digidapter have a voltage regulator?

You could also carefully power the Wildfire module on the bench using a 5v power supply to test for any noise using pinouts from this post:

I know the above is a different module but AFAIK the pinout is the same for all Fatshark type modules.

Is your BDI Digidapter the new one (v2) ?

I guess they are having a problem with the new one (v2 digidapter) and are offering replacements. Some sort of power defect, which is probably what is causing your problem.

Interesting. I’ll be sure to do that when I’m off work! And the whine may be from the BDI adapter as there was a mass recall on units working incorrectly. The foxeer uses 5 volts like you said and my dji goggle battery does 9 volts so there should be a regulator. Thanks so much for a lead on what could be wrong!

That’s exactly what’s happening. Just got my replacement today and everything works flawlessly so far
