Flywoo Hex Caddex Ant Issue
#1
Hello all.  I had a strange camera issue and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.  I was doing a range test with my hexacopter and the video got tons of static, which I expected.  However, the camera locked on a digitized screen.  The OSD was still working meaning the VTx was working.  I even rebooted the goggles mid flight (GPS Rescue is AWESOME!) and it did not help.  Here is a link to a quick video I made to show the issue.  Google Drive Video

If anyone has any idea what may have cause this, I would love some theories.

Thanks in advance!

This isn't just an issue with the Caddx Ant. Other "split" type cameras can suffer the same problem. It's because the FPV feed and HD feed are coming through the same camera and the image is going through the HD processing hardware, so if the firmware processing the HD image has issues or crashes it will have also affect the FPV feed. So it is likely to do with a bug in the camera firmware, I would check to see if there is a newer firmware update available. If you do find a newer version then just be careful applying it because some people have managed to brick their cameras doing that.

Interesting. I was not aware this was an HD camera on this analog setup. That is great information. I will look around for a newer firmware and see what happens. Do you think it was partly due to the static (or fully the static?) coming through?

Sorry, my bad. I was confusing the Caddx Ant with the Caddx Loris. The Ant doesn't have HD recording capabilities. It's the Loris which has that. So please ignore what I previously stated.

I don't know what your problem is but it could still be a firmware related issue. It might be worth contacting Caddx support in case it's an issue which is know to them.

Thank you. I always appreciate your feedback. I will see what Caddx has for me.

Looking at your entire flight video it most likely seems like a camera issue.

The Caddx Ant does not have any firmware update function and so I will consider this a defective camera and should be replaced. Have you got a spare camera to test/replace?

On the other hand, can you double check the camera video signal connection to the FC to see if it is soldered properly.

This could also be caused by the onboard OSD chip which has to burn the OSD information onto the video before it is sent to the VTX. Can you try a direct connection from camera to VTX to rule out this possibility?

@Kafie1980. I will try that for sure.
String thing is, it only happened the one time.

Caddx also agreed to replace the camera. After reviewing the video, they agreed it was a camera issues. So, thank you to them for taking care of it.
