Floaty Airmode
#1
Hey Folks,

I just had an awesome flying session.  I should mention that I now always fly with airmode, even during races.  What stood out to me was when throttling to zero, the quad is a little floaty.

Is there a way to make throttle zero on airmode spin the propellers even slower?  Or is this just a byproduct of airmode?  Should I NOT use it during races to take better advantage of active braking / damp light?

Thanks!

The lowest speed motor can spin in airmodebis defined by min-throttle... I generally set it to the lowest value where the all motors start to spin smoothly

Alright.. works for me.  Ended up lowering minimum throttle to 1001 and it seems to be doing what I'm expecting.

1001? Do you calibrate at 1000/2000? You want to make sure you set min_throttle at the value that the motors spin reliably. Some even do a pinch test...if you can easily stop the motors by pinching the shaft then go higher.

Just wondering because I've never seen anyone with a min that low. If you set it too low you might get nasty side effects like the famous death rolls, at least on Betaflight.

Oh.. damn.. that's good to know. I did calibrate it to 1000/2000 when using airmode it seems fine. The motors just kind of make a funny noise from spinning slow I guess..

Have to agree with Bandook here.

Best way to check how low to set your min throttle is goto motors tab, Take props off. set master slider on and then use the UP arrow key on your keyboard to bring all 4 motors up at the same time until you get all for motors running smoothly at the lowest point, Then look at that figure and set that as your min throttle command. Mine are usually around 1027 ish.

I didn't know about the up arrow.  seems like 1025 is the magic number for me.

Thanks!
