Airmode VS Idle up switch
#1
Just a quick question regarding your opinions between idle up or airmode? I know the difference, just wondered what you guys think which is better and why.

I go with idle up so I can turn it off when trying to land so I have more resolution when at low throttle.

Also doesn't freak out on the group or when i land

you can also turn it off if need be without having to go into the GUI

you can have your air mode and Arm switch on 1 switch like I do so I when I arm it, it will also turn air mode on

if you're tuned properly it works great. Idle-up feels like a hack to me.

Idle up only works as well as the low end you're willing to sacrifice airmode is the best mode...

Air mode, zero doubt, on all the time for me.

Airmode mimics idle up from the flight controller and also increases your pid sensitivity at lower throttle range where idle up keeps constant pid sensitivity throughout the whole range (unless configured otherwise).

Idle up makes no sense to me, because it's not the same thing at all. Idle up just increases your low throttle, whereas Air mode adds *authority* to your low throttle.

I've put Airmode on a switch so I can have it on and off when I like. As already said Airmode is completely different to idle up, it's my favourite feature about Betaflight.
Current quad: ZMR 250 / DYS SE2205 / Littlebee 20A ESCs / Drone Lab 1500 4S / Naze32 Rev5 / BF 2.7.1
FPV: Runcam Skyplus / Aomway 200mw VTX / Fatshark DomV1

Airmode replaced the idle up switch and it does way more to make awesomeness.

This completely confuses me ? Airmode controls the pid control at zero throttle ? But idle up switch keeps throttle open enough for pid control at zero stick ?

Airmode also regulates PID loop depending of throttle state.
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

I have airmode on a switch, just to have the option to turn it off on take offs and landings if needed. What is the point of having an idle channel eh  Wink

Airmode, it has a lot more benefits than just spinning the motors especially on newer betaflight versions.

As said .. airmode. . I have mine on a switch so I turn it off when I land . So you would have an arming switch and a seperated airmode switch along with your flight mode switch

I have airmode and idle up on same switch. I turn it off right before landing.

This may be a noob question but as intoFP is aforum full of kind, well-mannered people:

Is there a way to NOT have your motors spinning when you arm your quad and still use airmode? Or is Miguel Arrs solution the only way to get those results?

Yes I think so. But you will get used to it.
