Flight Control Board Location

I know orientation of the FC is critically important and can be corrected by software.  Is location of the FC relative to the quadcopter's center also important.  I would assume dead center is best, but is it necessary, is it even better, or does it make no difference at all?  I am building a quad, and moving the FC forward ( 1/2")  13mm could help me a lot in making other components fit and ultimately affect antenna placement.

it's best to have it centre, but it should still fly if it's slightly off. i think in your case it should be fine...

For a gyro, it doesn't matter where it's located, it only measures angular changes.
It does matter for the accelerometer (and baro, if it's far enough off-center), since that will measure directional forces.
