hello all!

i was flashing my happymodel EP2 to firmware 3.2.0 from 3.0.1 in order to match my transmitter as i was trying to troubleshoot the quad. but instead of getting the usual straightforward wifi update, i ended up seeing these! see screenshots below:







did i just brick the poor receiver? just to clarify, please see the “firmware.bin.gz” which i saved for flashing. is this correct??

EDIT: as of this writing problem solved! i decided to choose ELRS V3.2.1 which somehow installed properly on the EP2! very odd but somehow it worked!

You don't need to flash exact same firmwares. Just keep the Major version the same. So ELRS 3.x radio with ELRS 3.x Rx. It doesn't matter what versions you mix and match, as long as they have the same first number. For example a Radio running ELRS 3.0.1 and a Rx running ELRS 3.2 would work fine. But a Radio running ELRS 2.5 and a Rx running ELRS 3.2, wouldn't.

yes and i was fully aware of this procedure on flashing ELRS. oddly though i found it quirky for the system unable to flash 3.2.0 (after several attempts) and instead was able to flash 3.2.1 on the first attempt? whereas a few months back i also flashed a similar HM RX with 3.2.0 which went smoothly! 

i am still a total newbie getting horrified whenever i have to press the flash button! fortunately i was still able to bail myself out of these hairy moments in a nick of time! whew!

You should also be using the latest version of ELRS Configurator (1.6.1), and you might as well update to the latest firmware if you are reflashing (3.3.1).

ELRS now uses unified targets so updating is much faster and does not require you to compile any firmware on your computer.

yes! my configurator is running 1.6.1 already. i also see 3.3.1 being the latest and greatest. as i am now more informed and beginning to overcome the horrors of flashing new firmware, is it a straightforward upgrade coming straight from version 3.2.0 direct to 3.3.1? i have to update all receivers and my boxer TX. oh and is it also the same deal upgrading a TX just like the RX over wifi as i have not done this yet with the TX.
