Drone Build List for Beginner
#1
Heart
Hey guys,
I'm pretty new to FPV drones, still have some electrical engineering background. After watching and reading several videos and posts all about drone builds, I've created a list of important parts. I would like to build a (budget) drone with parts that are cheap but still worth having. as I'm a beginner it would be awesome, if you guys could go through my list and tell me if the parts make sense, are worth buying and of course share your experience/knowledge with me. If there's something missing you'd consider important just let me know or if I should change certain parts of the list. I also might wanna add a GOPRO onto the drone with some 3D printing parts later on. But for now, here's the list:

Everything looks good except for your charger. That charger states it is for 2s to 4s batteries, you’re running 6s.

Beyond that, I would also suggest an ep1 style ELRS receiver rather than one of the ceramic antenna ones.

Edit- also, I’d suggest getting a decent vtx antenna. The Speedybee vtx you chose is excellent, and one of my favorites- but it needs a better antenna. I believe it has an mmcx connector, so you’ll want to look for one with that, and make sure that its polarization matches your goggle antennas. Speaking of, you’ll probably want some better antennas for your goggles as well. TrueRC makes excellent antennas. For good budget antennas, I’m a fan of FlyfishRC Osprey’s, as well as RushFPV Cherry’s.

I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

As a side note, if you have no fpv experience, I’d strongly suggest starting smaller.

You will crash, a lot. The bigger the quad is, the more damage it can do to itself as well as anyone or anything it hits. If you’ve got a large open place to practice in then you might be okay starting with 5”, supposing that it has soft ground and not concrete/asphalt/hard packed dirt.

I’d also suggest getting familiar with the rules and regulations regarding quads in whatever country you live in. It’s up to you if you choose to follow them, but you should at least know them.

Also, welcome to intoFPV!
