I thought about posting this in the digital section but since I suspect there are a lot of new FPV pilots using DJI it might be better to post it here.

With regards to getting the full OSD with DJI is it still necessary to root and load WTFOS when using Goggles 2 and...

1. The O3 Air Unit?

2. Vista Air Units (regardless which camera)?

3. Original full size DJI Air Unit?

4.  Lastly, do I need to root the Goggles 2 also?

I bought a NIB 5" Vampire HD that came with an original DJI Air Unit installed and I'm having a problem getting all the OSD elements to show up and while the 16:9 OSD screen shows up in BF it is strictly a 4:3 look in my Goggles 2.  

I suspect I need to root the Air Unit and load the WTFOS thing but before I do so I want to make sure that is what is needed.  But I figure that while I am at it, I should know whether I need root my O3 equipped quad, my Vista Polar quad and/or the Goggles 2.  So I thought I'd just ask about all of them in one post where others after me can find the information.

Lastly, I am on the latest firmware version for everything....goggles, and all air units.

If you are using the DJI Goggles 2 then you can't use the root hack and WTFOS. Those are strictly for the DJI FPV Goggles V1 and V2, and the Air Units that are running on the older pre V01.01.00.00 firmware.

There is a current bug with the native Betaflight OSD supporting the HD layout on the new DJI Goggles 2 so it sounds like that is what your problem is. Only DJI can fix that so it means waiting around for the next firmware update and hoping that they included a fix for that, but don't hold your breath because DJI have a track record of ignoring annoying issues and either never fix them or take years to finally do so.

Thanks Snow, appreciate the response. Glad I didn't try to root any of my older air units. Guess I will live with what I have.
