I would have sworn that I used one of the last 3 ports alone when storage charging before...but maybe not, can't tell for sure. One way or another, I got away with that.
Yeah the basic principle is very simple, just connect all the same pins together and that's it. QC is the key, but also quality of the materials. If the copper traces are very thin/poor quality copper, they can burn out over time if you charge with higher current - correct me if I'm wrong.
I ordered the JB board, it was quite expensive (especially ordering it from a local Finnish store so I don't have to wait ages for shipping). So I hope that it will last. The only thing that sucks about that one is that it's 4S only. Currently I don't have any 3S batteries, but I will get some eventually once I get more to the airplanes. So then I have to anyway get some other board for that (or charge one by one).
