DarwinFPV waterproof FPV Drone
#31
Bardwell had this on his news segment this week, pretty impressive that this is a possibility with FPV quads.

An interesting thing about the drone in the video is that the camera that goes
"underwater" is actually an action cam attached to a pole. While it gives the
appearance that the drone is underwater, that does not appear to be so. He
also re-mounted the motors on supports that position them higher than what
looks like the original posiiton. He did put a float on top so that presumably
it would float.

The drone used in the video is very similar to the SPRY + Waterproof Drone.
The SPRY + Waterproof Drone has been around for a couple of years now
and looks pretty impressive if you really want a waterproof drone. There are
several YT videos on setting it up and using it, but I like DRONE CAPTAIN's
video the best.

EDIT: What I don't get is why don't they have any professional video on this quad... A low res camera phone video, really? And it also looks like you will be landing on the battery.

Ingenious  floating foams design and reasonable center of gravity distribution make it could right itself in the water.

This has been around for a bit. A guy I fly with invented this a couple of years ago. Nurk showcased it in one of his vids. Just built my first one last week and it works well. And it's not just a water quad. If you want to fly regular freestyle on land, the pool noodle is easy to remove and it flys like any other quad.

Wouldn't it make sense to just have the middle float so the battery acts like a sailboat keel and flips the quad right side up. Def would want some long boi antennas up top to keep them out of the water and hopefully poke them over the height of surface chop.

Maybe you can try this one: https://darwinfpv.com/products/darwinfpv...roof-frame

That float method could be retro-fitted to pretty much ANY quad.
Just buy the foam floats and attach; easy peazy.

A friend of mine invented the Deep6 system, which has been around for a couple of years, and I've been using that for waterproofed flying. You can use internals of your choice and it works absolutely great. Nurk has done a couple of videos on it.
