I bought a modified fractal 65 whoop off of ebay, but it is run with a bt2 battery connector. Can I just rip that off and solder on a ph2 connector with no problem? I notice my spare ph2 have thinner wire than what's currently on the quad, is that likely a problem? I could cut just the head off of the bt2, and just solder the tips for the ph2 on to the thicker existing wires and then thread them into the plastic ph2 head. Thoughts appreciated! • Posts: 6,098 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,728 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 you can remove the bt2 and solder a ph2. smaller wire diameter has more resistance, bur if it counts? it matters on many things - it will work for sure, it will be a bit less efficiency and a bit lowered performance in the worst case. keep it lightweight and low current is benefical for that purpose. take care that your ph2 has solid pins, not folded pins. that does matter alot, more and wore over time whem used. take care that blue is plus and white is minus on bt2 connectors Posts: 397 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 150 in 106 posts Likes Given: 258 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 11 Thanks, it's black and red wires, so I assumed just keep the same colors in the same spots and that'll do it. • Posts: 397 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 150 in 106 posts Likes Given: 258 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 11 Okay, I ended up leaving the thicker wires, but cutting off the bt2 connecter. Then I pulled the pins out of the plastic head of a ph2 and soldered them to the wires, then inserted those pines into the empty ph2 plastic head. Sufficed to say, it worked and I didn't fry the quad upon plugging in. Now I need to figure out if I can bind to a quicksilver quad? • Posts: 1,737 Threads: 60 Likes Received: 1,011 in 732 posts Likes Given: 96 Joined: Jan 2023 Reputation: 52 Most of the prewired ph2.0 have rolled pins, if you need any solid pins I have extras. Also there is no fixed polarity standard for a ph2.0 connector, but if you purchased from a drone shop then it should be good. You can always double check the polarity on your battery to insure it matches. • Posts: 5,862 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,778 in 2,240 posts Likes Given: 7,623 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 Hi mstc, Where do you get the solid pins for JST PH 2.0 connector? Got a link? Thanks, iFly • Posts: 5,862 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,778 in 2,240 posts Likes Given: 7,623 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 Hi FPVme, I tried batteries with PH 2.0 connector on my Meteor 65S, but the performance was way down compared to same size battery with BT 2.0 connector. So, I run batteries with the BT 2.0 connector on that quad. Consequently, I am interested to here how it works out for you. Presumably, you wanted a JST PH 2.0 connector because you already have a bunch of 1S batteries with that connector and want to use them and not for any better performance. Is that correct? If you find that the quad does not perform well, then it just might be the PH 2.0 connector. If you don't like the BT 2.0, you could use the GNB 27 connector or an XT30. Got a link? Thanks, iFly I got mine off Aliexpress, just search for "PH2.0 header". Don't mean to promote e-waste, but you get dozens for a $1 or so. This is the link I used, but there are plenty of other listings, some only the connector side, some right angled, etc. If you just need a few, you can pm me and I can send you some in an envelope. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255799846210757.html Posts: 397 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 150 in 106 posts Likes Given: 258 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 11 Yes, thats exactly right, I have too many ph2 1s batteries to justify buying a whole separate lot of batteries(hopefully) Posts: 771 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 443 in 325 posts Likes Given: 209 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 14 Did a ph2 to bt2 conversion on 5 batteries recently for my Mob7, damn that wasn't fun doing each wire at a time so it's never exposed to short against the other. When I tried the Ph 2.0 connectors on my Meteor 65S, the performance and the fly time was greatly diminished from the same size batteries with the BT 2.0 connector, so I went back to the BT 2.0. That said, on my last 1S build, the Baby Naz X-1, I used an XT30 connector some 1S batteries now come with the XT30 connector. If you have an 2S or 3S (or more really), you can make a small adapter (I did) with an XT30 and PH 2.0 connectors in series so that the 1S cells can be used in other quads that have an XT30. The EMAX TinyHawk II Freestyle comes with a connector to utilize two 1S cells.
