Carl.Vegas' New Builder Questions
#16
So for the final list:
So far before camera I've only spent about $203 so not to bad! I didn't realize that building would be economical in some cases. I could have easily spent almost 3x on the ESCs, and there is part of me that is worried that I'll regret it.

So 2 final questions, even though I've marked this as resolved already:

Should the cobras work OK with 20a ESCs on 4s 1300 mAh batteries? I got the cobras after reading Oscar's post on them. I figured with such a reasonable price from BG I'd give them a try even if they probably aren't the latest and greatest any more with how fast everything is moving (or as I've heard, is pretending to move :p )

And second, do the frame and or other components come with hardware or should I be picking up some extra hardware?

Frame kits usually come with hardware (standoffs, screws). However, I would pick up longer M3 screws (aluminum) - the ones that usually come with kits are rarely long enough. I would go at least 10-12mm on a frame like that (for the corner standoffs - at least the standoffs are nice). Just IMHO. (FWIW, I am going through all my builds and replacing nylon standoffs with aluminum - I've used longer screws, but the nylon/plastic standoffs tend to break even with mild crashes - especially with top-mounted batteries.)

EDIT: Note that your standoffs might not be threaded all the way through (most are), in which case you'd need to replace the standoffs to use the longer screws.

So replacing even the standoffs for the stack? Definitely something to consider if it's a potential problem.

I'll be bottom-mount the battery on this one. With everything else up top it seems to make more sense.

I'll get more screws and standoffs either way in preparation.

The stack standoffs are not that important if they are not connected to the top plate (looks like not for the Martian), but if you need some vibration dampeners for the FC, you'll probably have to pick those up.

I got a bunch of these: https://www.readymaderc.com/store/index....ts_id=6306

Last update for this thread...

I just checked status and it appears that my parts are in the US now. So should be any day now. This means I'll likely get my build in the air before the Diatone which isn't supposed to be in stock for a few more weeks.

Future posts about this will be made in a build log.
