1 I got to thinking (yes, I know this is dangerous) about batteries.
If you have a quad that is designed to run S6 packs and you only have S4s after a day of flying could you use a S4 to get some more stick time? I’m guessing the response would be diminished but it’s still more flying time.
Conversely, would using a S6 in place of a S4 cause problems due to an over voltage mismatch?
I really don’t know enough about this stuff to know what I don’t know…and I think too much

121 08-Aug-2023, 06:49 PM (This post was last modified: 08-Aug-2023, 06:50 PM by Lemonyleprosy.) You can always go down, within the voltage rating of your flight controller/esc/aio- if the quad is build for 6s, you can put a 4s battery on it. It’ll just be a bit more tame.
Going up is a different story. If your quad is built for 4s, you can go to 6s IF: your electronics are rated for 6s, AND you set an appropriate motor output limit in BF. For motors rated for 4s, motor output limit should be around 66% to run them on 6s.
You can also set up BF to detect your cell count and change pid profiles depending on whether you plug in a 4s or 6s, and automatically apply the motor output limit when needed:

Dangerous operations.
Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

1 Thanks, Lemony. It makes sense but there are so many “variables” in this hobby and I’m lost a bunch of the time.
I guess I need to look into the workings and specs of FCs, ESCs, etc
