I was wondering if you guys can recommend a cheap mini drone with a camera ($50 or less)? I will mostly use it to play inside the house with my cats, but would be super funny to see everything through a camera. If we would go even further, I know there are those "goggles" you can wear and see right through it, kinda like VR. I assume these things are more expensive, but do you think you can get something like that for < $100? • Posts: 220 Threads: 33 Likes Received: 99 in 68 posts Likes Given: 38 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 2 If you want something to play with the cat, go for a super cheap potensic a20. There’s no camera, but my cat does like it and it’s unbreakable. A decent FPV whoop kit starts from 170 usd: https://www.tinywhoop.com/products/tiny-whoop-nano-rtf Andrea - "If you want to check your quad durability, let me fly (crash) it" • Posts: 5,873 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,779 in 2,241 posts Likes Given: 7,639 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 Hi gabrilesi95, I agree with andreab. If you want FPV then combo kits are a little over $150 US; that includes everything: the quad, a transmitter (radio remote controller), goggles, and some accessories. In fact, $50 will barely get you a super cheap set of goggles. The EMAX Tinyhawk combo is a pretty decent kit. If you really want to stay at the $50 mark, then you won't be getting FPV; no camera, no goggles. On the other hand, if you just want to play around, any cheap quad will do. The Blade Inductrix Switch is an interesting craft for less than $50. This one looks super safe, but no camera. Super cheap quad without camera. Something like this one here has a camera and you use your phone for FPV for less than $50. Go to AMAZON and type in "tiny whoop" to find a lot of different small quads. I started out with a cheap quad and had lots of fun. In fact, I still fly them around the house sometimes. Just know that these are toys {yes, you can get parts and they can be repaired, but it is very tedious} Anyway, I hope that this helps. • Posts: 220 Threads: 33 Likes Received: 99 in 68 posts Likes Given: 38 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 2 The tinyhawk is a pusher, pay attention with the cat Andrea - "If you want to check your quad durability, let me fly (crash) it" • Posts: 6,112 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,286 in 1,833 posts Likes Given: 4,736 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 cats dont like airflow, its the last sign befor a cat-war. the blow some air befor the jump on eachoter your cats might only like it from faraway. batteries arent toys, cats shouldnt grab them. not a suggestion, but the most inexpensive way for fpv; a receiver for a smartphone or tablet can be used with a vr case https://uk-m.banggood.com/Eachine-ROTG01...rehouse=CN you will need to buy a case match with your smartphone; https://m.banggood.com/Cardboard-VR-Expe...rehouse=CN a tiny whoop; https://m.banggood.com/Eachine-E010-Mini...POA1177580 you will need to solder wires, to get the video transmission work; https://m.banggood.com/Eachine-TX06-700T...m-alsolike Posts: 220 Threads: 33 Likes Received: 99 in 68 posts Likes Given: 38 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 2 My cat does like playing with the drone, no reason to hover on top of her: Andrea - "If you want to check your quad durability, let me fly (crash) it" Posts: 6,112 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,286 in 1,833 posts Likes Given: 4,736 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 29-Dec-2020, 10:13 PM (This post was last modified: 29-Dec-2020, 10:14 PM by hugnosed_bat.) xD shes a fearless dronedriendly cat xD my cat like my crashes, very old scene, very fast cat • Posts: 5,873 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,779 in 2,241 posts Likes Given: 7,639 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 Hi gabrilesi95, The Eachine E013 Combo (with controller and goggles) was my first quad; if the link is correct, it looks like the whole combo kit can be bought for a little less than $60 USD. If that is accurate, then it might be what you are looking for. Just be careful if you buy on eBay. Personally, I would get a combo kit even though it might cost over $100 which is more than you want to spend. Now, if you really want to try to get as cheap as possible, you will still likely spend over $50. Consider what you really get and what it really costs {Not counting your efforts}. Here is my breakdown: Cheap tiny whoop class drone: $20-$30. FPV Camera/VTX combo (retrofit): $20 (more or less) Camera mount: Rubber Bands: $0, any other mount for less than $10 5.8 Ghz VTX receiver for your phone: $15-$25 Goggles case for the VTX receiver: $6 @ Hugnosed, I like the cardboard goggles case Oscar's Build a Tiny whoop Article Before you go the route of converting a cheap $20 US quad into an FPV drone, you might want to take a look at the following links first: • Posts: 10 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Nov 2023 Reputation: 0 I am very new to the hobby and building a 3inch to learn in I have a 4CH FS2A AFHDS 2A Receiver, Can anyone tell me if this will work with my drone build, I have had mixed reviews some say I cannot use this receiver at all for drones and others say no problems.
