1 Has anyone had an overheating issue with a BN 220 GPS module?
It gets a lock quickly and in all other ways works fine, it just runs very hot to the touch ,to the point of deforming
the model it's mounted on?
I have run HGLRC 8M M8N GPS Modules and they have worked really well, not even warm.
I thought I would try a BN 220 to save weight. Is it a fault or do they just run hot?

118 03-Aug-2021, 02:26 PM (This post was last modified: 03-Aug-2021, 02:27 PM by kafie1980.) GPS units should almost never get hot to the touch. How hot is the weather where you live? If you have a fan blowing or it or while flying does it get very hot?
I have a BN220T (not the older BN220 but never understood what the T was for) and ordered another BN220T that's in the mail but don't have my hands on it yet.
My BN220T can be powered (mounted on the quad on the bench) for even 20 30 minutes at time and barely gets lukewarm.
I have always run all my GPS modules on 5V although several people suggest running these GPS modules on 3.3V. You might want to try running it on 3.3V.

118 You probably have a faulty unit. I think its best you request a refund/exchange from the vendor. Nothing you are able to do from a software end to fix the over heating issue and there must be a bad component on board causing it.
