Betaflight Version
#1
So my ancient computer that I was using for all my quad programs has basically died and so I finally replaced it. Is everyone using the latest version, or is it buggy? I assume I need to save my settings somehow and transfer to the new computer? Is this easier said than done? Thanks in advance.

This new laptop will pretty much be exclusively used for quad and 3D printing.

I went ahead and updated to 10.5.1, and I can't update firmware. I select my FC (LUXF4OSD) without issue. New version is loaded from online. But, when I try to flash I get, "Failed to open serial port" message.

What did I miss?

All drivers have been installed.

You are in DFU when you try to flash?

Also, I have noticed that there can sometimes be resource conflicts that will not allow BF to see the aircraft when it is plugged in. Luckily, I have a few laptops I can use.

I don't have a lot of luck when I rely on BFC to automatically put the FC into bootloader mode aka DFU. Use the boot button on your FC. Hold it down when you plug in USB. You see DFU upper right corner. Or you can use CLI and type BL or DFU depending on your current firmware on your FC. Or if you have I believe is 3.3 or later, you can turn on expert mode and there is a toggle on the setup tab to put it into bootloader mode.

Then flash while in DFU.

Tried the expert mode route and no dice. When I try and holding the boot button and plugging in the USB, not only do I not get a DFU, it won't connect at all. I have to close Betaflight and re-open to get it to even connect. But, no DFU....

I don't need a battery for this, do I? I didn't think so....

Don't need a battery. You are probably missing Zadig driver.

So either manually load Zadig or use driver fixer.

Downloaded Zadig driver successfully. Already downloaded Impulse. All it does for me is ask me to connect ImpulseOSD hardware to the computer.

I think you download and install the wrong thing.

If you properly install Zadig  you don't need the Fixer.

Downloaded the correct one this time, thank you. I was able to use Expert Mode to enter DFU. I was able to update, and I'm pretty sure I restored my saved settings. Thanks for the guidance once again. You'll know if something didn't work, hehe.

So, I was able to restore my settings under the restore settings tab. What about the CLI file that I saved? What do I do with that? Looks like my OSD settings are reset, but everything else seems good. Do I need to mess with the CLI file I saved? If so, how do I restore it? Do my questions even make sense, hehe?

If you had a bunch of OSD setting you wish to restore, copy all the lines with OSD in them from your DUMP file. Paste them into the CLI. You do not have to paste them one at a time, just CTRL-V the all of them at once. Finish off with a SAVE command and the FC should reboot. At this point, your OSD customization should be there again.

I have a customized DIFF that includes OSD info, as well as radio and ports stuff. I just CTRL-C the whole file and CTRL-V it into the command line. It makes upgrading a snap!
