Hi guys, While shopping... I've noticed the following BNF : https://www.drone-fpv-racer.com/en/bando...-6718.html Bando Killer V2 is a great frame I would like to purchase for sure but I'm a bit concerned about some choices they made: 1) F60 IV 1950kv.... does it make sense on a bando/freestyle quad ? Huge power at the end with low efficiency in the middle... wouldn't be a better choice to use a F60 IV 1750kv ? Or even better a 2306 motor ? 2) They equippend the quad with a Xrotor F4 G3... Why not using the XRotor F7 which is lightest and more performant ? It's an expensive quad with premium component... Am I missing some advantage in using the F4 G3 FC ? Thank you, • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 For motors I guess it depends what you want. I have those same motors on my freestyle quad and they are a blast. Yes you lose some efficiency compared to lower KV motors but I'm still getting 5-6 minutes of flight time using a 1300mAh 6S LiPo while flying reasonably aggressively. I think the XRotor F7 is a fairly new FC that appeared after the Bando Killer V2 was released, so they are probably just sticking with an FC that is already proven to work rather than changing things, which I would probably then mean a Bando Killer V3. I guess you could always buy the same frame and just build a similar quad to your own exact specifications. https://pyrodrone.com/products/lethal-co...er-by-tomz Posts: 356 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 55 in 28 posts Likes Given: 31 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 4 (01-Jun-2021, 10:31 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: For motors I guess it depends what you want. Yes the idea was to keep this as an example and to start building my own. For a smooth freestyle do you think 1750kv is better ? I would probably use 1000mah 6S batteries. Regarding Xrotor in general, do you think it's a good option compared to other competitor brands ? Their F7 seems to have all the top-level features with a small price and only 18g for a 30x30 stack! Sounds great! • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 (01-Jun-2021, 11:06 AM)Zanna83 Wrote: Thanks snow! Sounds great! I only just started flying with 6S so I can't comment on the 1750KV motors but they will definitely be less aggressive and more efficient than 1950KV motors. I just wanted a sky rocket that I fly in fairly open space, so I put in the highest KV motors I could for ultimate speed without any risk of burning out the ESCs or motors. If your new quad is going to be used for actual bando bashing then you might be better off going for 2306 motors. Again, I have no experience of these myself. Just going off other people's builds that I've seen. People who fly bando's seem to favour the 23xx motors. XRotor products seems to be pretty sound and bullet proof, especially their ESCs, so I think their FCs can also be considered high quality. A couple of things to be aware of is that it has an onboard OSD chip which will be redundant if you are going to be using it on a digital (Air Unit / Vista) build, and there is no onboard barometer if you care about that at all. Other than that it only has 4 full UARTs, with the other two being half UARTs (one with just a TX pad and the other just an RX pad) so those two half UARTs will effectively be useless on a digital quad. It does have dedicated I2C pads though. So as per usually there are some pros and cons. • Posts: 356 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 55 in 28 posts Likes Given: 31 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 4 (01-Jun-2021, 11:35 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: I only just started flying with 6S so I can't comment on the 1750KV motors but they will definitely be less aggressive and more efficient than 1950KV motors. Actually i'm not skilled enough to do bando, i'm learning basic figures of freestyle now so my way of fly is extremely soft and not aggressive at all. Wide movements... something between freestyle and cinematics... . I'm carrying a GoPro9 without battery. Any alternative you may suggest ? Regarding XRotor...Are you talking about the F7 FC ? I cannot understand what's the matter with the ODS chip... actually i'm using Caddx Vista. 4 UARTS are more than enough for me... Vista, CRSF and i'm done! • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 01-Jun-2021, 12:04 PM (This post was last modified: 01-Jun-2021, 12:06 PM by SnowLeopardFPV.) I don't generally post footage of my flights so I don't really care too much for getting really good footage because it's for personal use and review only. I therefore just make do with footage from a RunCam 5, or footage from the Air Unit or goggle DVR, unstabilised. It sounds like that won't be good enough for your needs in which case I think a GoPro is your only real option. Yes, I am talking about the Hobbywing XRotor F7 FC... https://www.hobbywing.com/goods.php?id=681 The integrated OSD chip is only for analogue video, likewise with the two camera outputs and VTX pit switch control. So all of those features are wasted on a digital build. I guess this is because in the past Hobbywing gear has been aimed at racers who fly analogue gear, so Hobbywing are continuing to cater for their loyal racing customer's needs. • Posts: 356 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 55 in 28 posts Likes Given: 31 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 4 Sorry Snow, probably i wrote something confusing! I was talking about an alternative for the motors, not for the GoPro9. Regarding the XRotor F7 you are totally right! On the other hand, they decided to implement a DJI plug connection to lend an hand to digital guys like me! • Posts: 21,330 Threads: 590 Likes Received: 9,001 in 6,662 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 790 Ah, OK It looks like I completely misunderstood your question Sorry. For motors, iFlight Xing or EMAX ECO II motors are probably worth looking at in the KV range you are after. The EMAX ECO II Motors seem to be killing it at the moment for performance vs value for money. Assuming you can find some in stock that is. If I was looking to build another 5" quad I think I would probably give them some serious consideration. Also, didn't you get discount voucher from iFlight for that crappy FC they supplied you with in your Nazgul 5 V2? Maybe you should put it to use and get some Xing motors for cheap Yes, DJI have made a "one size fits all" FC to cater for different customer needs. If the features it provides fit your requirements then you might as well go for it. I'm not sure of anyone else using that particular FC but that might be because it's still quite new. Some feedback would be appreciated once you have had a chance to put it to the test. Unfortunately they limited that discount to another crappy FC . No way to use it for a set of motors! Anyway... Actually I have xing 2207 1800kv on both my 5" quads (Xing-E Pro on the first and Xing on the other). Now i would like to try something different. That's why i'm more oriented on T-Motor. My only concern is that i don't want to choose motors which are not suitable for a smooth freestyle. On the other hand i need power to lift the Hero9 and to avoid feeling ttoo much its weight. Edit: I was thinking about something like this: - 4 x RCinpower Smoox GTS V2 2306 - Stack Hobbywing XRotor F7 + 60A ESC - Bando Killer V2 frame. - Caddx Vista - Crossfire Nano RX Should it work ? These motor seems to have a lot of pull on the whole throttle range. • |
