Are you a thumber or a pincher |
23-Oct-2018, 02:26 PM I PC game mostly, but used to play PS4 with my children...so maybe that controller might have had an influence, hard to know. When I started flying, it just felt natural to use my thumbs so that is how I manipulated the radio. I flew a few very slow close proximity flights as the sun was going down and tried both methods again. Either way seemed to work, but pinching the sticks did not seem to be more controlled. It was just a different way of doing the same thing. SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! Addicted :) 23-Oct-2018, 03:03 PM (23-Oct-2018, 01:33 PM)Andreas-sa Wrote: Question is if you are a thumber or pincher depending on your age? If i had an xbox style controller to use i could probably get away with thumbs, but the range of motion with traditional sticks makes pinching so much more practical for me. 19-Dec-2018, 12:42 AM Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car 20-Dec-2018, 09:47 PM Not sure if I count as I've never actually flown FPV, but on the simulator I find myself doing a kinda hybrid grip. Thumb on top, but forefinger guiding. Not sure what you call that. Screwed up, hehe. Deal Here's the Deal 10" 6S FR10-G Long Range, 5" 6S Rooster, 5" 6S Badger, 5" 6S QAV-S, 5" 4S Badger, 5" 4S Phreakstyle Slam, 5" 6S Yema, 5" 4S Stark, 3" 4S Gecko, and a 3S 2.5" Tadpole, all of which are Crossfire. Tinyhawk, Tinyhawk S, and a DJI Spark. And projects on the bench.... 20-Dec-2018, 09:51 PM (20-Dec-2018, 09:47 PM)Deal-E-O Wrote: Not sure if I count as I've never actually flown FPV, but on the simulator I find myself doing a kinda hybrid grip. That's exactly how Mr Steele does it so maybe you took some inspiration from him 21-Dec-2018, 03:13 AM I've seen some of his videos. I closely resemble his flying style. On his crash videos though.... The ground is for dead people. 28-Feb-2019, 12:52 PM statistic about rates expo compare to thumbers/pinchers would be nice, do pinchers fly high rates while thumbers low rates? im a thumber, feels more intuitive and conected to me, but i start as thumber.. if i try to pinch, my fingers ask for more rates and expo.... is it also question of setup, in the early rc days they cant setup that much, pinching has more variability? „sms“ brings the thumb generation? peoples dosent use that much thumb specific things before. is it better to use it more? one of both should have more technical potential. pinching more fingers = more technical potential? or thumb is more simply cause, means more recource saving for brain? brain comes that much before fingers i doesnt matter? 28-Feb-2019, 03:40 PM (28-Feb-2019, 12:52 PM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: statistic about rates expo compare to thumbers/pinchers would be nice, do pinchers fly high rates while thumbers low rates? For my part, I am about 90% thumbs (have a semi-hybrid style) and my rates are above midline. I found I had better control with the rates high and really only use about 3/4 of the stick travel with regards to roll, pitch and yaw. The only "axis" that I use the full range with is throttle, but most of the time I am below 80% even there. SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun!
