Thanks to Oscar's recommendation, I bought the Reptile S800 V2 SKY SHADOW. This is not my photo, but this is what I will be learning to fly wings with! I went with the basic model as I will learn to fly it with the 4 channel FrSky R9-Mini RX. I have plenty of 2204 and 2205 motors and a few 20 and 30 amp ESC's around. I also ordered a few more of the little 9G micro servos. I thought about getting the offering with the FC and all that, but will equip it with that sort of electronics as I get it set up for longer range flying. I am sure there are better selections and would rather save the money for a suite that will allow for iNav! I also have several VTX's in the spares box and can borrow the camera from The Bug (Swift Micro 2) for now. I am still building my Pizza Box SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! Oh no...it will have a motor and prop so with a little luck, it should fly and not just get thrown around...LOL In seriousness, I cannot wait either! Already have a shipping alert...the basic chassis will be here by end of day, the 23rd It will likely take me a little bit to get things soldered up, but looking at the schematics for wiring these things lends me confidence I can create a flying wing with what I have and will receive. That is a perfect choice for a first wing - very durable, so it should stand up for inevitable crashes Ask me how I know ;D Fingers crossed for fast delivery! PDB Swift 2 Micro Oscar's Backpack VTX 2206/2300kv motor 30 amp esc (quad) R9 Mini RX Parts ordered - 9g micro servos 1800mah 3S pack 30 amp esc (wing specific) Not sure about flight controllers yet. Will fly it with the 4 pwm channels on the RX for now. No stabalization, but that will create a more immersive learning environment How hard can it be? I built mine with quad parts I will start a new rebuild thread as soon as new parts arrive (next week). Your parts list looks fine too, you can start with just the RX - if it flies correctly, you will be sure that it is 100% fine mechanically. BTW, I used the FC on my first wing ONLY to have a buzzer available on a switch, betaflight stabilized modes havent worked anyway Posts: 3,288 Threads: 129 Likes Received: 2,740 in 1,644 posts Likes Given: 2,969 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 65 Thank you Konrad! I am only starting to consider how I want to set up my flight controller in order to take advantage of GPS. I would love to learn iNav and watching many videos and reading many pilot experiences with it, I suppose it will not be that hard to figure out. For now, the RX will get things aloft and that is my focus. SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! I was surprised to find a basic FC and ESC in the box. Some servos are here...cheap ebay ones I bought. I am considering pulling the RunCam Swift 2 from the 5". It also has the TBS Unify Pro HV, so some option there. The ESC is a 30A Flycolor BLHeli Raptor and I have a spare RCX RS2206-2400kv motor. I think this will make a good combo. It is a slightly hotter motor than what they list as the stock one. Their spec says the PNP comes with a 2205-2300kv. So I have a question on CG. I was reading that COG should be about 125mm from the nose. Is this true even if I put a heavier motor on the back? Like, do I simply add forward ballast to compensate and keep CG at 125mm...or do I have to recalculate CG? I have no idea how to wire this up yet. Looking at a few drawings of what others have done, so I think I will get it figured out. Oh, another question...a silly one really, does it matter which way the prop spins? Thinking I have props laying around, both CW and CCW. I know that it has to be a prop that pushes. Does CW/CCW make any difference as long as it pushes?
