Awesome build bro. you're going to love the way it flies. one suggestion if you don't mind, I would shorten your battery connector. try to get it as close to the frame as possible. it'll be less likely to get get caught in a branch if you ever crash in a tree.

I do worry about the 20A ESCs though... Maybe it's time to get a set of 30A with blheli_s support.
What would you guys recommend? Since I'm quite happy with the xm20a, the xs30a would be a no brainer but I see some good feedback about the littlebees and the aikon as well

yes get some BLHeli_S ESCs. especially if you like running 5045 tri blades. I have a full kiss set up on my QAV-X, and a SPR F3 with XS30A on a QAV-R and to be honest, I'm faster with my QAV-R. but smoother with my KISS. (just don't try to kiss me to find out)

ps: black Aomway Wink

Somehow I missed this before. Didn't know Aomway makes black ones, or is yours a mod?

So maybe it's time to try something new. Just need to wait a few weeks now since this month's hobby budget is gone Big Grin

Thanks!
Initially I put a short one like yours but it was hard to unplug from it and I was putting some stress in the PDB pads. I had bad experience with that in the past so ended up replacing it with the long one. I use the battery strap to keep the cables snug even though they're long, but honestly didn't consider the tree scenario so I need to give it a thought. Maybe something in between is the right thing...
And btw, thoughtful advice is more than welcome Smile

There's a couple annoying details about this frame which I didn't mention yet. Since you got the same one I'd like to ask you first if you have any?

What I did for my battery connection was I got just enough of the XT60 sitting on the frame to get a zip tie around it. so when ever I plug in or unplug I can squeeze the connecter to the frame and pull my battery off. like this.

Nice, I think i'm gonna follow your advice and shorten it.
It will also shave off some grams from the frame as a bonus which is great

There is one thing I am a bit concerned of, and that is actually your antenna placement. In a crash, it looks like it will be a lot of bending force on the SMA plug on the vtx or the antenna connector, am I right? Is it any space over the FC to move the VTX a little bit forward and fasten the antenna on the other side of the connector with a cable tie?

On the other hand, it's far to nice to be crashed Smile

Hey, I did the pin mod to get a bit more space and that allowed to move the VTX more towards the inside of the frame. Now it's the antenna that's attached to the frame  and not the SMA connector so it should be a bit more crash proof. I also put black heat shrink on the antenna cable so now the only red part is the head which is not so bad Big Grin

Jimmy, I took your advice and shortened the cable as well. Left it just a tad bit longer than yours, the edge of the XT60 sits against the end of the frame. I also attached the cable to the frame with a zip tie so now it no longer feels like I'm gonna rip the PDB pads when unplugging the batt.

Still got some details to finish later this week but then I'll post some new photos.

Over the weekend I took it to the field for the proper maiden. It feels pretty awesome Smile so good I got a bit over-excited and had a couple nasty crashes. Nothing broken other than props and an intofpv battery strap fortunately Big Grin

Now the challenge will be to get it tuned. I have an F3 Evo with the infamous MPU9250 and when I had it mounted on the previous frame I was never able to remove some oscillations. But perhaps it's just that I suck at tuning, which I do.
I had high hopes for BetaFlight 3 but didn't help much, at least with the defaults with PIDs slightly decreased. Next time I'll go to the field I'll try to do a tuning session and if I can't get it right I'll upload some BB logs here in the forum to see if someone can help.

maybe you can try soft mounting your FC bro. but it's going to a challeng with this frame cause of the limited space. but maybe I can try to help you figure something out.
