I have 2 daily drivers, since I often break one when I go to the park and I like to experiment, although I am very new to flying.
OG Orange was originally bought for a steal from some guy on a classifieds site since I was waiting for parts to build my first quad (now Purple Boi) and was impatient - being the noob that I was I didn't realise it had a spektrum receiver installed and I have a FrSky radio, so I ended up having to wait for a receiver to arrive anyway. I live in Bangkok so there is little in the way of local suppliers. This quad has taken a serious beating from me and I am amazed at the durability (although I have fixed a lot of stuff along the way). I've swapped out a lot of stuff since I bought it as well.
OG Orange:
Chinese alien copy frame
Matek F405-CTR FC (my second, I fried the first)
RunCam Micro Eagle w/ some random Foxeer lens I found (smashed the original)
T-Motor F40 2600kv
FlyColor x-cross BL32 35A ESCs
TBS Unify Pro HV 2 Race VTX
TBS Triumph
GPS Module
Purple Boi:
(different) Chinese alien copy frame
Mamba F405 Stack
Emax Eco 2400kv
EAchine TX805 VTX
Foxeer Predator v3
Foxeer Lollipop 3
GPS Module
Future ideas:
HD camera with recording - I still crash way too much and don't do anything impressive enough to bother with a GoPro
Buzzers (I have them but forgot yesterday to install them)
Until yesterday I had the mamba stack in OG Orange since I had fried my F405-CTR and I was waiting for the replacement, I was about to go to Europe for a few weeks and I wanted to take a quad with me so I hacked it up in a couple of hours and took a lot of spares - that turned out to be a good choice. Anyway, I spent the whole day yesterday tearing it down to the frame, rebuilt it a lot better and put the new F405-CTR + old ESCs back in, transferring the Mamba stack into newly built Purple Boi.
Poor guy lost an eye...
Before yesterday's work...
After, both of them.
I installed a chin guard which came with Purple Boi's chinese frame (at least I assume this is it's intended purpose?) to hopefully save my camera lens from poles this time.
All purple Everything
A tight squeeze - that is actually a 3 board high stack, the VTX is on there at the top. I had to trim down some standoffs to get it all in there.
I thought this looked cool.
Both are around the 370-380 mark. I am just flying freestyle for fun in the park so I am not trying to aim for any specific weight or shave off the grams
Durable AF antenna mount
Current state of The Bois
================ 23/09/2019 ================
Today I added a RunCam Split 3 Nano to OG Orange. Turned out to be a bit difficult to mount since my frame natively accommodates full sized cameras, so I made my own mini-to-full-size mount using some standoffs, but I think this is also why I am getting some vibrations in the video which weren't previously there.
Before shot
Current state of his internals
Pretty dodgy little mount, I might either try to find a micro-to-full-size adapter on banggood or just get a mini sized split 3 and stick this one in a future micro build.
Finished result
