3 inch toothpick build is EXTREMELY sensitive!

it sounded to me sensivity didnt relate to throttle mainly, good point about throttle limit, throttle limit is a nice way to increase throttle presicion.

I have one quad that was way more responsive than I liked and could
barely handle it. In my case, I set the throttle limit to 60 percent which
tamed that thing right down. Now it flies fine and I can control it.

I don't know if this will work in your case since no one has yet suggested
it, but, it is an easy thing to change. Just a thought.

set throttle_limit_type = scale
set throttle_limit_percent = 85    << or what ever
save

To remove the throttle limit:

set throttle_limit_type = off
save

You know I do this to every quad I have, but not so much the limit bit.  I set the limit to scale for the reasons Hug mentioned about throttle resolution/precision.  I learned to do it on my Meteor85 when i first started.  Pretty sure You, Hug or Lemony suggested it back then.  But in my case I tend to set the percent to 100 as I am looking for better (and more linear) resolution, not capping the throttle.  If I need to cap the throttle for some reason I tend use the motor output limit for that.

I also used Oscar's guide and I think a JB Video, to add a variable throttle limit to a POT on my radio.  Mostly used when I am testing new quads or I let my nephew fly one and don't want him literally going to the moon.

Thanks for the tip!
I have throttle limit on a switch for a few other quads, especially for quads that I fly indoors.
Though I dont think it would help much on this one..

I was out flying earlier today, flew two packs with my 2.5" toothpick and to with the 3" toothpick. Even though I have adjusted Rates, expo, FF etc. in BF so that the 3" SHOULD be a whole lot less sensitive then the 2.5" its not.

Its flyable, changed to 3X1.5X3 props and it made a difference, but it's still way more sensitive then my 2.5" on roll, pitch and yaw..

I have checked everything that could physicaly "spook" the FC, but everything looks god, there is nothing that can touch the FC, every screw is properly tightened, no weird vibrations or oscillation, the FC is properly fastened etc.

I think it must have something to do with the tight spacing between the motors, it's the only thing that differs from the rest of my quads, and they al flies just fine with a whole lot less expo, more aggressive rates etc and where flying ok on BF default settings.

It might be that you have to learn to fly it as is. in which case if you learn to do that, maybe try and get roughly the same settings on all your quads. Or you could mothball it as a learning experience that didn't work out.

I have roughly the same settings on all of my quads, or at least start with the same settings and change them a little to suit the quad, but this one requires almost double the expo and much "tamer" rates and is still very hard to just fly around a field with.

Going to try out some new settings as soon as it stops raining outside..

Found the issue!
Throttle mid point was set to 0.20, changing it to 0.50 fixed it!
Now it's flying really good, and 10+ minutes on a 3S 650mah LiPo!
