Quote:I've seen that sort of signal drop before. You got far enough out that a rooftop obstructed line of sight. My local obstruction is a brand new storage unit facility. The second I get below that, a perfect signal turns to barely hanging on.
Looks like it endures the wind quite well though. Just little bumps up there. How's the ground wind speed?
Yeah I've noticed on a few flights that I need to be up higher. At first it was 100m then to get to 900m distance I needed to be at approx 120m altitude. It's getting a bit high now and it is an urban area in a flight path to the local aerodrome 5km away so I'm not uber keen on going higher. I need to stand on a ladder!
Yeah it handles the (light) winds well. I took data from the local weather app, was pushing 10-15km/h winds so quite light.
Quote:Is that the v2 or v3 VTX and you have it at full power? I would have thought the 350/500mw would get you past 1km assuming you have clear LOS. Which patch antennas are you using and were they pointing in the right direction, at that range if your head facing is off slightly that could affect your reception. You can try some slow head turning if you see your signal dropping. Or maybe its the rooftop issue Suros mentioned.
Yup V3 at full power with the heatsink casing removed but heatsink die still in place on the main chip. No patch antennas yet. Just truerc lhcp stubbies on the goggles with the single TX antenna using a long lhcp antenna. I'm trying to get the most out of it before I go patches.
