Some great fun with my wife and sister-in-law flying the powerup FPV while I attempted to fly chase with the Tiny7. The footage I caught is not fantastic, but I am quite pleased how my acro mode flying is coming along after only 2 weeks... 

The Powerup FPV is attached to my own design airframe which has a double rear swept angle before reaching the forward sweep at just under the mid-point of the wings. I also used a (sort of) 'inverted gull' by added some Di-hedral and An-hedral angle to the wings, at this point I'm sure anyone who knows anything about fixed wing design is shaking their head at me thinking -
"That is almost every conceivable configuration all mashed into one..?!"  
...but I have been thinking about this configuration for a while. I think I will start a new thread for my Pterodactyl inspired "Inptero" airframe rather than fill this vid thread with blah though...

This is the 1st successful flight after some modifications to reduce the wing area and the addition of the 'twin tail' vertical stabilizers alleviate 'Dutch Roll' I also changed the canopy of the tiny7 and modified the camera position slightly to reduce the amount of chassis in frame.

Totally premature selection music selection, but I just couldn't help myself!

my dog would have picked it up in his mouth, crushed it and dropped it t my feet......

Great video and that pterodactyl is awesome too! Chasing has become one of my favorites.

My dogs are all really chilled, that one is a classic Scooby Doo character... Walking through the banana fields round here we startled a Duiker (very small buck, about 2' high) at the noise of it running away, he    himself and hid behind me!

Thanks man, I had really good fun, it was a real test of my limited ability to fly like that, its the 1st time flying the Tiny7 in acro mode with some actual aerial space...! I hope to be back there in a bit though...
The original paper plane design was called the Invader, then the foam-board design that I have been modifying was called the Infoamer, so I thought to keep the tradition 'in' I would name my Pterodactyl with the intended pronunciation being "In Terror!"  Despite its name though, my Mrs finds it much easier to control than the 'true' double delta frame that I recorded my previous FPV plane vids with.

One of my SD cards is misbehaving at the mo, it will only capture one video, then all the other files captured after, won't play  so I don't have any vid from the planes view, I keep forgetting to run a proper 'overwrite' format on the card before going to bed

fun to watch! cool shape to the fixed wing, I know nothing about them but it sure does look interesting!

Thanks FFT, I'm not sure if you saw my 2 attempts at a trick inspired by your 'turntable' I was trying to do a yaw spin with the quads nose facing the ground, but it seemed to refuse to maintain the pitch angle while carrying out the yaw..?

The guys at Powerup asked if I would make a 'how-to' for the airframe, I am almost finished with it, when I am done I will make a thread in the 'fixed wing' section...

Hm... isn't that just because of the cam angle? To make a yaw spin look "flat" you would have to compensate with roll a bit, same like you would in a turn trying to keep the cam level.

I'll watch it again when i'm back on PC, not sure if i understood right.

EDIT: On second thought... your cam angle is not so steep. From watching again, could it be that PID are a bit low? Especially at zero throttle, strong yaw inputs can additionally destabilize the quad a lot - maybe that's why it almost flipped over.

I just updated to BF 3.2 which increased the PID a bit, and has improved the overall stability, it feels much more locked in now, at least until the batteries start to go off after about 1.30   . I am coming to terms with the fact that this little guy, while pretty fast and agile, doesn't really have the raw power required for proper acro flying.

I thought - as it's only the torque force used for yaw control, that the odd direction of that thrust, which is inherently coupled with the torque, may have led to the instability...

That or my FC just said "WTF are you doing?! Go speak to FFT and come back when you have a clue!"
