I’d still like to design a basher 5” frame. I have been watching some parts be made by molding but whether it’ll work on a quad frame I don’t know. Eliminating the metal hardware would be nice or as much as possible. I do find that all else equal, thickness costs more than surface area. And for every 0.5mm additional thickness, again all things equal, you can expect about a 20% increase in price. I've also taken a quick look at "molded" carbon fiber sheets. But I only know that it can be done and not much else in terms of pricing and actual process. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 This certainly is one of the more faster deliveries but to give you a sense of how fast a package can arrive from China ... • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 So ... it's pretty quiet lol Did you guys have any specific questions? Or maybe I glossed over too much stuff? Just ask away man this your opportunity. Worse that can happen is I'll say, "I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you." lol. Seriously though I really wish I had this type of feedback outlet when I was designing my own frames. So here is your chance. • Posts: 4,073 Threads: 75 Likes Received: 2,548 in 1,858 posts Likes Given: 3,949 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 121 No questions yet, but I really do appreciate the tutorial. I’ve got to make the time to sit down and learn the software- I’m sure I’ll pepper you with questions once I do. Dangerous operations. Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about. Next time I decide to dive into Sketchup, I'll try to remember to record my session so you can see my style of workflow. I think that might be helpful for some even if you use Fusion. • Posts: 4,073 Threads: 75 Likes Received: 2,548 in 1,858 posts Likes Given: 3,949 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 121 (31-Jan-2022, 10:28 PM)the.ronin Wrote: Thanks lemon! Didn't know where else to post this but just kinda needed to vent a little. I am absolutely getting some bullsh*t from my suppliers man. Price increases of stupid amounts from $5 to $40 and 20%+ increase in shipping fees. I'm not the most experienced importer so it's kinda a pain cos my sense is they are trying to tell me they need to make more profit but rather than just saying, yo Rob friggin spend more money you cheapskate, they give me this runaround B.S. of "oh Fedex is charging $5 more shipments to U.S." ... ok cool story bro let me show you my Excel spreadhsheet showing a $20 increase in what the charge should be so mmmmkay thanks for playing. I even got a, "This is what we charge you last time!!" ... when invoices clearly show the price before as $4 and now it's $40 - EXACT. SAME. ITEM. LOL wow!! And it's not like it's breaking my bank - heck I had sent off payment to one supplier before I ended up getting a refund after calling him out on his back asswards price increase once I did the math (I was in a rush I'm not normally that negligent). But I just don't like feeling bamboozled when just straight up honesty would save a whole heck of a lot of calorie burning. So yea maybe its a culture thing where passive-aggressive rules the day in China? Who the eff knows man it's just super annoying. When I confronted the $5 to $40 guy with the invoices he finally just said, "We need to make more profit and your orders are too small." THANK YOU WAS THAT SO HARD?! So annoying. [To clarify, the $40 item was one of many - don't think I wanted to import just $40 of goods from China lol I'm not that bad.] Gahhh this is crazy I may just have to find new suppliers all around. Thing is if its world events driving this, then ... sh*t I dunno man. • Posts: 4,073 Threads: 75 Likes Received: 2,548 in 1,858 posts Likes Given: 3,949 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 121 Damn dude, that sucks. I’ve got a feeling a lot of things are going to continue to increase in cost due to current world events, plus shortages and logistical nightmares. Dangerous operations. Not gonna lie kinda feel like a dick ... my supplier sent me actual cell phone photos of Fedex pricing sheets and screenshots of chats with his courier department showing how he got to that price. It's practically double. Unreal. I suspect how this translates to bigger shops is that instead of paying more, they will settle for much longer shipping times. Bad news all around. • |
