Anyone else using it? I picked a copy up for general messing around and I kind of like it, but can only really fly in the two OSHA maps or the High School Gym ones. The house one is a nightmare for me at the minute and that Sealand map is laggy as anything. I'm using the Fractal 65 whoop with detuned rates. https://store.steampowered.com/app/14323...ro_Drones/ Try Not, Do or Do Not - Yoda • Posts: 120 Threads: 17 Likes Received: 58 in 41 posts Likes Given: 20 Joined: Oct 2022 Reputation: 2 That looks interesting. I just got the tryp on steam. It's pretty cool but it's new and has some glitches. Although they know it and announce that it's still beta... • Posts: 2,490 Threads: 76 Likes Received: 1,383 in 1,035 posts Likes Given: 803 Joined: Apr 2022 Reputation: 41 So is Micro Drones. It's apparently been Early Access for a year now, but it actually flies ok. I would hope by the time they release it there will be more maps. Also there isn't a Tutorial on how to fly a quad, but then would it really make any difference. Probably my only complaint is I had to manhually calibrate yaw, pitch and roll, because they weren't perfectly centred, which made me drift when flying/hovering. Anyway, worth the money, for me anyway. Still I find it perplexing watching other peoples vids on YT and they fly so elegantly, where as i spend all my time bumping into things. Listing only QUAD Sims, I have .................deep breath.................. LiftOff LiftOff Micro Tryp Acro Kestrel Orqa/FPV.SkyDive Drone Racing League Tiny Whoop Go Uncrashed and others like Curry Kitten's, etc, etc. My personal "Go To's" are Uncrashed for 3" and up, and Tiny Whoop Go for Whoops. In the Fixed Wing / Helicopter / Autogyro Sim World I still use Phoenix, now abandonware at V6, though personally I still use V5.5. Before Horizon Hobbies as good as trashed major bits of it (or their contractor did) when it had progarmmers who understood RC flight, I was a Beta Tester for v3.0 up to v4.0. I date right back to FMS, when Windows had low single numbers after the name! (Well, I did have a highly modified Flight Sim on my extensively hardware modified Spectrum and later the Atari ST!!) I spent two happy years making many hundreds of freeware models for a non-flight Sim, but that's another fish in a kettle. They are still out there getting downloads even now, getting near twenty years on. (The base program now being as near abandonware as MS ever allow) Tiny Whoop Go stems from Jesse Perkins, THE Mr Tiny Whoop, and has a large community of track builders and active leagues if you like that sort of challenge, but is great solo, with some excellent holiday/special day related scenery, nicely animated even. Absolutely well worth the money and the set up time. • Posts: 949 Threads: 71 Likes Received: 339 in 253 posts Likes Given: 156 Joined: Dec 2021 Reputation: 19 Oh, I forgot Velocidrone! (Mainly because I have not bothered even putting it on my newest gaming laptop) Many people rate it very highly and some catagorically say its the most "real" but I have not got on terms with it at all. Spent quite a lot of time on it, have tried, still don't like it! Should always calibrate to true trim before first use, and that often means manual actions. Have never liked LiftOff's calibration process, had some comms with them, but only partially resolved. Tiny Whoop Go has quite extensive help (as a separate entity). • Posts: 2,490 Threads: 76 Likes Received: 1,383 in 1,035 posts Likes Given: 803 Joined: Apr 2022 Reputation: 41 (01-Nov-2022, 07:12 AM)BadRaven Wrote: Should always calibrate to true trim before first use, and that often means manual actions. I noticed on the overlay it was at a slight offset, so did it manually and set it to what it said it was at that time (centre). It's been fine ever since. I only have Freerider and this on Sims. I wasn't sure this would even run on the dated hardware (Nvidia GTX 970) on my Linux box. But it's ok on all maps except Sealand. I literally use it for about 20-30 mins a day just to kick back. I would rather be outside flying if I can. But the only requirements I have for Sims is it must be Linux compatible. Liftoff (and its off shoots) are, Freerider is and I think Velocidrone is, but don't know about the others. The only Linux machines I own have stone age processors and graphics, so are unlikley to be any use to test out anyway. • Posts: 2,490 Threads: 76 Likes Received: 1,383 in 1,035 posts Likes Given: 803 Joined: Apr 2022 Reputation: 41 I only have the desktop that i use regularly. I have a couple of dual quad xeon servers with onboard intel gfx, but they are not for gaming and tbh, they are way to noisy to be used outside of a datacentre. Try Not, Do or Do Not - Yoda • |
