Yaw twich issue
#1
Hello everyone, I’ve got this yaw twitch issue on my 5 inch. I didn’t have it before but I made some changes to the layout of the stack - it is esc -> fc -> caddx turtle pcb in one stack. The stack is soft mounted but may be a bit tight. Also the caddx pcb now touches the frame - so the whole stack (whist soft mounted ) is hard up against the edge of the frame - I think this is the issue ? Causing the flight controller to trigger the yaw twitch?

Here’s a short video.

My thoughts were to try and get the top of the stack to not touch the frame anymore.

Any suggestions? I have re-calibrated the gyro but the problem persists.

Thank you,
ph2t.

Do you have a capacitor on the pigtail? If not, try it. Cures most of my yaw twitch.

Thanks mate, I actually didn’t put the cap back on when I rebuilt the bugger so I will do that today and see how she goes. Makes sense in a cause and effect way as I wasn’t experiencing this before the rebuild with the cap in place.

Just a quick note to say Thankyou voodoo, the cap fixed the twitch. Now if only a cap could fix my flying!

Thanks again.

Cheers,

What is a pig tail, and why would this help that yaw twitching issue?

The pigtail is your power lead, on the quad side.

Yaw twitching is usually the result of electrical noise getting through to the gyro, and adding a big ESR capacitor helps to smooth out noise generated by the ESCs. Ideally you put it on the power to the ESCs themselves, but that's 4 times the capacitors, and it's much simpler to add it to the main power pads. It'll also help with video noise.

I never build a quad without one any more. It solves so many problems.

The ground is for dead people.
