XM+ firmware compatibility with Jumper T18 Question
#1
HELP!!!

I am just getting into FPV and recently purchased an iFlight Nazgul5 V2 LED edition for my first drone. It came with the XM+ receiver and iFlight has it flashed from the factory to 2.X.X firmware. My radio is going to be a Jumper T18. I confirmed that both the receiver and the Jumper are the FCC firmware edition and not the EU version so I should be good there. My main question is if the Jumper built in JP5in1 module will bind with the 2.X.X firmware that the XM+ has flashed onto it or will I have to downgrade the firmware to a different version that the Jumper support. Also, after I downgrade the XM+ firmware edition to a version less that version 2.X.X, will I have to also downgrade the firmware in the jumper T18 and the module bay? If so, which version should I use? The Jumper says it supports FRSky D6 and D18 protocols but i cannot find what firmware of these receivers it supports. I really do not want to have to downgrade because I researched the topic and it involves de-soldering the receiver and making a wire that connect from the XM+ into the pins in the jumper module bay. My soldering iron does not have a removable tip so i don't want to break anything by getting solder all over the place. I have been into RC cars for about 8 years now so I have a bunch of servo wires I could probably use to downgrade the firmware but it would be a big hassle and i would like to avoid it if possible. Do you know if the Jumper T18 supports the FrSky 2.X.X firmware? I really hope I do not have to downgrade both the firmware on the XM+ AND the Jumper T18 radio.

Thank you so much i cant seem to figure this out!

As long as you have one of the latest versions of the multiprotocol module firmware installed, the 5-in-1 module in the Jumper T18 will be able to bind and communicate with an ACCST 2.x.x receiver. You just need to select and use the FrSkyX2 protocol.

You can get the latest multiprotocol module firmware from the following link if you need or want to update it to the latest version...

Thank you so much. That clears up a lot. I guess I had never considered that because I had always thought that the versions of 2.x.x and above only let you bind to an FrSky transmitter and I always thought you had to downgrade to get it to work with a Jumper or Radiomaster. Why does it work with the Jumper using 2.X.X? Is it because of the Jp5in1 module or something else?

Also, I checked out your link and found the firmware. Which one do I download? Is it the one that has my channel mapping in the name of the download or is it the MultiLuaScripts.zip file?

You download the "Jumper T18 Internal Module (5-in-1)" firmware. It doesn't actually matter which channel mapping you select because you can always configure the channel map in Betaflight to match what the receiver is outputting, but if you want to use the same as the default Betaflight channel map then select a channel order of "AETR" for the firmware.

The ".bin" file is the firmware file that you download and then flash to the Multiprotocol module. The MultiLuaScrips.zip file contains LUA scripts that you can copy to the \SCRIPTS\TOOLS folder of the SD Card in your Jumper T18.

Quick question. Why does everyone always say that the only way to make a radio work with ACCST 2.x.x is to downgrade the firmware? Is it because of the jp5in1 module that makes it special so that you can just upgrade the module firmware and not have to downgrade the receiver firmware? Can you explain why upgrading the module firmware works in the case of the Jumper T18 and why everyone always says to downgrade the firmware?
Thanks so much!

You're probably reading old articles or watching old videos that were published before ACCST 2.x.x support (FrSkyX2) was added to the Multiprotocol module firmware. The 2.4GHz protocols supported in the Multi-protocol module firmware are the same for all 4-in-1 and 5-in-1 modules.

Yep, just read your other post and that explained all of it. Thanks!
