I have an frsky R-XSR receiver that I'm trying to put on a raptor f4 s-tower. I am brand new to this and tried buying a RTF drone but it didnt come with a receiver so wasnt too RTF. I've tried watching videos of how to do it but I cant seem to translate it over to what I have. Any help will really be appreciated

The simplest way is to wire it up in SBUS mode.

However, the first question, assuming that you also have an OpenTX capable transmitter, is do you care about or want telemetry data on your transmitter, or not?

I have the taranis qx7, honestly all I want is to finally be able to fly it. Not really sure if I want that or not- i'm sure theres a benfit to it but how hard is it to set up?

Not hard. But getting control is the first goal. Then you can worry about telemetry later.

I probably sound really dumb but i'm still confused on how to wire it. What do i solder for it? All i have is the connector that came with the receiver, dont i solder it to the FC or is there a port i'm supposed to have a connector for to just plug in the receiver to the FC?

Use the SBUS connector on your Raptor F4 S-Tower (second connector down on the right of the image below):-

• SBUS OUT pin from the connector of the R-XSR to the RX pin of the Raptor connector
  
• +5V pin from the connector of the R-XSR to the 5V pin of the Raptor connector
  
• GND pin from the connector of the R-XSR to the GND pin of the Raptor connector
  

The SBUS IN and S.Port pins on the R-XSR will be left unconnected.

Thank you so much for being patient with me, that's actually alot simpler then I had thought!

Once you've done the wiring, connect up Betaflight Configurator, go to the Ports tab and make sure the "Serial RX" switch is set to ON for UART3 and to OFF for all other UARTS. On UART3 also make sure that all other options are set to DISABLED to avoid any conflicts.

And in the Configuration tab, make sure the Serial Receiver Provider is set to SBUS.

Don't turn off MSP.

Wired everything and put it where I wanted it to be but when i gave it power no LEDs lit up. Does that mean it's fried?

Are you just powering from the USB, or are you plugging in a LiPo?

Some flight controllers don't power the receiver until a LiPo is actually plugged in.

Just to clarify, is it just the receiver that isn't lighting up when you plug in a battery? Are you getting lights on the flight controller with a LiPo connected?

Yeah everything else is lighting up like it should just nothing on the receiver is lighting up at all
