Whoop Course
#1
Racing myself in the basement with some whoop gates built by mstc. It's really quite a different experience flying in the dark with these bright gates. Had a blast. These weren't my fastest individual laps, but I strung three of them together without mishap for an okay run. Awesome to find new ways to practice and keep everything fresh! Flown on a fractal 65.

Very nice setup, great use of the lights.

For anyone interested they were made from those LED pop tubes for kids/parties. They are soft flexible plastic tubes that are roughly 8 inches long but stretch out to 2 feet. Not very rigid when stretched so attaching it to some surface/object is needed say for a gate. These are less than a $1 a tube, and if someone just had a party, you could recycle a bunch for free.

It runs on 3 button cells, no idea how long they last but probably good for a few sessions. I soldered on some PH2.0 pigtails (perfect way use up those rolled pins), so they could run off old whoop batteries (great for soldering practice too). It has three modes, super fast blink (ie epileptic mode), slow blink, and solid. And when powered off, there is no current draw at all, so it will not drain batteries left plugged in.

For the round gates, it takes two tubes to make. I soldered the LEDs onto a single control unit, so one button/battery powers both strings and printed a 3D case to hold both tubes together, but some electrical tape would probably work fine. Most of the pairs of led strings were wired in parallel, but tried a few in series and that worked fine as well.
