VIFLY ShortSaver is a different one, it is electronic fuse. 1. Other smoke stoppers just limit not stop the current flow, the leakage current may still damage your components. VIFLY ShortSaver is a different smoke stopper that adopts the electronic fuse to completely cut off the current into your RC build if a short circuit or wiring mistake is detected. 2. VIFLY ShortSaver would turn off the power to a device that drew in excess of the switchable 1A or 2A threshold within just 10ms. It is far more effective than the old way of using light-bulb or resetting fuse. The shorter the protection time, the safer your build will be as something make break by the time the fuse trips. Maybe the OP of this thread who represents VIFLY would like to make a comment about that For large builds, you can longer the reaction time by bridging the PAD (S and N) in the back, Oscar should mention it in his review article , " When I am testing my 5″ build, it would almost always cut off the power as soon as I connect a 4S 1500mAh battery. But with a smaller LiPo such as a 3S 520mAh it was totally fine. The solution to this is to bridge the “S” or “N” pads on the back of the PCB, this will increase the reaction time, effectively reducing the sensitivity to current surge. Bridging the “S” pads worked in this case, I can now plug in 4S 1500mAh and it no longer gives me false alarms. " "A smoke stopper is an essential tool for protecting your quad from damage. But until now, the light-bulb smoke stoppers were less than ideal. The ViFly ShortSaver is the smoke stopper you always wanted. It's small. It supports up to 6S voltage. And it uses e-fuses (not polyfuses) so when it shuts off, it really shuts off (and it doesn't light on fire). I guess people could add their own switch but it would be nice if one was already built into the board for a neater solution. I guess we will see an improved V2 of this board soon like we did with the VIFLY Finder after various people have given some feedback. I find that V1 of many products often seems to mean they are a beta version. For me, if this is going to be a better mousetrap, then it should come ready to go not have to make the fix mentioned. If I'm rebuilding it, I will stick with my home brew smoke stopper. It has worked for me and many others up to now. With that said, if this product can be retrofitted as mentioned by Snow and it truly is a better smoke stopper, I would buy one. • Posts: 1,013 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 452 in 349 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 16 Probably not too difficult to solder in a little on/off switch. • Posts: 21,258 Threads: 587 Likes Received: 8,966 in 6,634 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 788 V2 of the VIFLY ShortSaver has just been announced. VIFLY seem to have a habit of releasing V2 of a product within months of the original V1 being released. It's like we are being used to beta test their products so they can figure out what they need to make better for the "final" product. It's a good reason never to buy V1 of any VIFLY products and just wait a few months for the polished V2 to be released. They did exactly the same with the VIFLY buzzer. V2 of that appeared not long after V1 had hit the shelves. If anyone is interested in the V2, details are below... https://www.viflydrone.com/smokestopper.html • Posts: 190 Threads: 35 Likes Received: 39 in 30 posts Likes Given: 88 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 2 On/off switch is a nice feature My Facebook Page | My Youtube Channel iFlight Green Hornet 1 | Emax Tinyhawk Freestyle 2 | Emax Tinyhawk 2 ISDT 608 & Balance Board | Eachine EV800D | Taranis Qx7 | TBS Crossfire Mini v2 • Posts: 1,506 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 714 in 525 posts Likes Given: 478 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 93 (22-Dec-2020, 02:33 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: It's a good reason never to buy V1 of any VIFLY products and just wait a few months for the polished V2 to be released. Yes, I just got a V1 only about a month ago as well. The same happened with the V1 VIFLY Buzzer. About two weeks after I got the V1 they they released the V2. I wish they would stop doing that. If it was a year between released then it would be fair enough, but just a few months after the V1 product launch feels like a bit of a slap in the face. • Posts: 56 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 16 in 14 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 0 16-Jan-2021, 04:29 AM (This post was last modified: 16-Jan-2021, 04:31 AM by johnq816.) Actually the main difference is the power switch, the difficulty is little so that we release the new version in half a year. We listen to what the customer are saying and just want to provide the best product for the customer, hope you can understand. • |
