It's possible some of the joints have gone bad/cracked and are creating an intermittent connection. It would probably be worth re-flowing the solder on the gyro connections, although with conformal coating on the board, trying to do that probably isn't going to be easy because you will need to remove the conformal coating first. That's the one downside of conformal coating - it can make doing repairs difficult.

I tend not to fly much (or at all) during winter for that very reason, so I'm looking forward to spring/summer because the last real flight I managed to do was back in October. I have limited places to fly around here and my usual spot has turned into a quagmire, so it's currently a no-go zone.

Funny story. Just replaced the FC with a brand new one and the same thing happens: VTX randomly goes into pitmode. I will take the VTX out and see fiddle with the connections, if not I might order now a new VTX...  Cry

Brand new VTX and problem solved. No more random pitmode. And now I've also got a spare FC. I guess I'll wait for drier days before going out to crash it some more.

Nice one. You can never have too many spares, even it if ending up with them wasn't planned Big Grin

I would also advise keep the dead VTX in a "parts bin" as well. You never know when you might need to use it as a donor to rob some SMD components off it for another board.
